New Manager

There should have been a plan well before Williams was sacked. Unless several candidates have provided false hope when being sounded out or have changed their minds, as usual, it seems there was no plan.

Besides Sheehan. Again.

That is exactly it.

For the fourth consecutive time, the club is on the back foot with a managerial appointment.

It tells you everything you need to know about the calibre of people we've had running the club that they do not even understand one of the basics of football, which is you never release a manager without having agreed terms with his replacement.

I’ve got a horrible feeling that our manager for the foreseeable future is already on the payroll.

That is not the case as often as it is
When you look in the Championship at average managerial vacancy time this season:

For example Tony Mowbray joined West Brom on 17th Jan after their previous manager left on 24th December (24 days)
Plymouth sacked Rooney on 31st December and hired Miron Muslic on 10th January (10 days)
Derby sacked Warne on 7th Feb and hired Eustace on 13th Feb (6 days)
Preston sacked Ryan Lowe on 12th August and hired Heckingbottom on 20th August (8 days)
Hull fired Tim Walter on 27th November and hired Ruben Selles on 6th December (9 days)

The list goes on, but the average is a week and a half with WBA currently the outlier.

With Wba though Corberon left to go to Valencia out of the blue, on Xmas eve! So the delay is slightly more understandable

Sacked by Rennes in November and now applying for a job with a relegation threatened team in the Championship.

Mmmmmm, ok.
Can't see it can you Smurph?

Don't know if it's true but was mentioned to me this morning that he is even over here to watch the game, off his own back.

Could be bollocks, probably is as it's me posting it 🤣

That last sentence did form the basis of my reply, if I'm honest 😂

Might have a bit more about it later.

I won't be at the game today so relying on some messages about things.

Before anyone has a go for me not going, I got freebies for the Wales/Ireland game today 😁

Club have had an application they are very interested in.
Julien Stephan.
If this is true, we'd have rocks in our heads to turn him down. Took Rennes to the Champions League for the first time in their history, won them their first trophy in 40+ years, and then had Strasbourg in 6th.

I look forward to us announcing Sheehan on a 4 year (+1) contract

Big IF though.

Saying that, many would be surprised with the type of applicants that put their CV in for a low championship club. Many would be taken on but money becomes the big thing.

The British game is a massive pull for many a foreign coach, many will get as much if not more pay in our 2nd tier than many a teams in the top divisions in Europe.
