New Manager

They shouldn't be considering Sheehan at all, even if he wins every remaining game.

Last time we gave a manager the boot at this time of the season was Laudrup, and then just because Monk got a bounce for 3 months, we made the fateful decision to give him it permanently. We all know what happened next.

We need a coach who has a bit of a CV and is worth taking a punt on. We need a steady pair of hands, someone who knows what they are doing and ideally has a 100+ managerial games under their belt. It's time to stop the punts on unknown quantities.
This was the Garry Monk who was calling other managers unprofessional for being linked with the Swans job while he was merely an interim coach. Giving the position to him full time was the second biggest mistake the club made during our time in the Premier League (with the biggest being hiring Bradley)

As Dr Winston said Monk did not pull up trees (or anything close to it) during the interim gig, the 3-0 hammering of Cardiff seemed to earn him a huge amount of brownie points with the club though.

Even his 8th placed finish was built mostly off the back of the squad that Laudrup had assembled combined with Bony having the greatest 12 months of his career and the return of Gylfi.

Barring an utterly catastrophic run of form (which that one win in twelve came close to before being salvaged by the last few games) I suspect Monk was always pretty much nailed on for the job as a reward for services to Jenkins.

If he wins every game until now and the end of the season then we would be stupid not to offer him the job! He would have deserved it totally.......let's see how he goes for the remainder of games.

In response to the links with Watson(Dr W post) there is plenty who knows the links with Sheehan and Watson and will certainly leave a bit of something in there if Sheehan were to get the job. It's exactly the same scenario as Williams to Martin and people making their mind up early doors there.....it's inevitable, unfortunately.

My personal view, if Sheehan does a good enough job from now on in them I would be happy that he gets the gig full time.
My concern, as history as clearly shown, links to previous employees at the club will still be strong amongst the fanbase both online and offline.

The majority of our fans won’t have a clue of the link between them.

People think online fans views represent the majority, when that’s definitely not the case.

If he wins every game until the end of the season. I'll nail my balls to a burning shed.

You're the only one mentioning links to previous employees.

That’s right we do - the following season we finished eighth in the Premier League, further cementing Monk’s place as a bona fide Swansea City legend.

That's just a bit daft, isn't it.

The menacing toxic Martin-Williams rot was set deep and wide - off and on the pitch - the football was all about their self indulgent, CV-enhancing self-centeredness - all to look as Pep-like as poss, on and off the pitch. We were sinking sharpish with those two frauds.

You (and one or two other notable challengeds) seem to be bereft, pining for the toxic-twins. And as per, making stuff up to deflect and cause division. Quell surprise, dapsy lad.

If he is in until the end of the season, I sincerely hope they haven't reached this decision based on Saturday and Saturday alone.

If they're looking for a safe pair of hands until the end of the season or until the right candidate is identified, available then I'm ok with that.

I agree I can understand the euphoria after Saturdays result and it was an entertaining win but so was the Boxing day game against QPR and then the Luton win resulting in play offs talk only for it to go pear shaped as we know... we should not consider making him permanent until after the season finishes to see what he does over a long run but even then I'm not sure 12 games is really enough to assess suitability.

One swallow doesn't make a summer and let's hope the decision on who will be our next permanent manager is given every due diligence this next appointment is the most critical in recent times, there should be no room for sentiment or cheap options.

On here, that's right.
Although on here, I'm not the only one on here who knows the link.

If he gets the job, I suspect he won't, plenty will bring the link up with Watson.
I personally wouldn't hold that against him but if/when things turn sour then it will be brought up very quickly with some.

I just want to avoid all the issues we have seen in the last couple of seasons and fans to be United a bit more 🙈🤞

Far from it as history has proven with recent links with previous employees.

The Watson reign and legacy is up there with the biggest harm in recent seasons at the club! I would like to hear from anyone who thinks any different.

I'm not trying to cook up any deflection at all, I'm just trying to highlight possible issues.

My main fear is that we'll be absolutely fine under Sheehan without being sensational until the end of the season.
Then they decide not to go with him and look for our next manager. They may be sounding out people via their agents already and I hope they are.
What we need is the new man, Sheehan or AN Other in place asap when the season ends so that we can target new players and draw up our retained list.
