New Manager

Let's make 100% sure and not assume we won't go down because there is a chance.

I'm not for Sheehan, I think as a club and fanbase, making Sheehan manager with the links he has with Paul Watson will just carry the toxic flow that is within the fanbase already
Whilst it is mathematically possible for us to get relegated, we wont.

Pop £10 on 40/1 with Paddy Power if you think we're going down.

How many people other than the terminally online are even aware of the links between Sheehan and Watson?

Always seemed like an excuse to have a go at him for me. Can't imagine most people care one way or another, especially if he takes the side on a decent run.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's like linking Lee Trundle with Brian Flynn etc....

Just like people saying Williams wouldn't get sacked because his mate from Notts County has come on board.

Also when you think about it, us lot on these forums offer just a small set of opinions in all things Swansea City.

Strip it back even further and there's probably a large proportion of those offering their views who don't go to games either.

Talking to people in the know in the press room on the weekend, supposedly Ken Gude had revealed that the club have a long term option they’re working todays who would take over at the end of the season… but they’re also prepared with a short term option of things don’t go to plan with Sheehan … but they’re definitely looking towards the long term.
This is what I heard last week too once Williams was gone.

It's all gone very quiet with names. Not a bad thing, stopping leaks, but God it's boring

A lot of managers won't fancy the job until it's all but a guarantee that we survive and remain a championship club.
The next 4 games will have a big say in both survival and regards the new manager, we can't get complacent despite an excellent 3-0 win.

Sheehan carries on the good run, it will certainly put more questions in the owners heads. You will likely find the last thing the players want is a new face coming in and putting doubts in their heads as to what the future holds....I would suspect the players would likely prefer a face already here and their familiar with but we all know that could go either way.

It's going to be an interesting few weeks for sure.
If Sheehan does a half decent job here i think he will want the job and the players would probably want him as manager. I think if we have a reasonable run to the end of the season it's going to be very difficult to appoint someone else.

Heard similar. The succession plan (along with Exec level restructuring) has been at the top of the action list since new ownership.
Also top of the list has been finally purging the Club of the bonkers, nonsense, menacing ways of the Martin-Williams mess - on and off the pitch.

The quorum passed its test with flying colours in so many ways, and was the ultimate catalyst for change.

We are evolving again.
The next level of the Swansea Way beckons.
Exciting times …..

I liked what Sheehan did last time he was in charge, I think he was the best of the last four managers, a view reinforced by Saturday. My fear is that the Board will get the guy 'they really want' who will turn out to be yet another Messiah with a system who plays lots of players out of position to fit his 'system'. Meanwhile Sheehan finds a job elsewhere and isn't available when it all falls apart again.

It wasn't just the result on Saturday, and the other games, it was the performance, the fast movement between defence and attack, the mid-field tactics. And ... the players seemed to enjoy playing, which I think is very important for success. O'Brien and Franco being used properly is also a huge plus

First interview question should be do you have a philosophy, system or process?

If the answer is anything other than 'stick the ball in the opposition net and keep it out of ours' or 'no, footballs a simple game, not rocket science' we should tell him to naff off.

It's a massive IF, but IF Sheehan does continue to get a tune out of these players, results improve, morale around the club improves, attendances improve and so on, all the way until the end of the season, the club would be absolutely insane to ignore that and go outside the club for a new coach in the summer. Genuinely straight-jacket behaviour.

I doubt they have Ancelotti or Klopp on their radar; putting faith in them to find a top coach that would get us better than the scenario above is stretching credulity.

Don't get me wrong, at this stage they absolutely should be full bore on identifying new managers who can take us forward, that's plan A, but the idea that they would not consider Sheehan at all, regardless of how well he does, is barmy. Options are good; changing course based on unfolding events is ok.

I think they'd absolutely consider Sheehan if the performances and results continue to improve. Seems a lot of doubt as to whether he'd actually want the job permanently.

They shouldn't be considering Sheehan at all, even if he wins every remaining game.

Last time we gave a manager the boot at this time of the season was Laudrup, and then just because Monk got a bounce for 3 months, we made the fateful decision to give him it permanently. We all know what happened next.

We need a coach who has a bit of a CV and is worth taking a punt on. We need a steady pair of hands, someone who knows what they are doing and ideally has a 100+ managerial games under their belt. It's time to stop the punts on unknown quantities.

Monk didn't get a bounce for three months. We proceeded to win one out of the next nine league games following the Derby. One out of the next twelve games overall.

If Sheehan delivers a run of form like that he's not going to be offered the job. If he wins every remaining game they'll consider it. And he'll have earned the chance, if he wants it. But generally I concur in wanting someone with considerably more experience.

Just as well we've played Cardiff twice this season.

Can you imagine the outpour to give him the gig full time if he was to beat them.
