New Manager

Looking like Sheehan until the end of season.
Some betting companies no longer running manager odds for us and Sheehan odds on with others.
A lot of companies pay out on a caretaker after he has been in charge for X amount of days at the helm.

If he is in until the end of the season, I sincerely hope they haven't reached this decision based on Saturday and Saturday alone.

If they're looking for a safe pair of hands until the end of the season or until the right candidate is identified, available then I'm ok with that.

Exactly.

I would also think that if we identify who we'd want going forward, we'd likely want to get them in before the end of the season to properly assess who stays and who goes.

Last thing we need is appointing Sheehan on a whim and finding ourselves in the exact same position 12 months from now.

With the gap now until Preston next Tuesday it would have been an ideal time to bring someone in. It’s been blindingly clear for some time that Willy was on his way out so we could have been sounding out people ready to install them straight away.
Clearly the plan is to wait until the end of the season but I’m far from certain it’s the right one.

Once again, how about a bit of respect for the guy that has stepped up twice and outperformed those, interviewed, and selected as managers who simply have fallen short of the mark. I’m not necessarily advocating that Sheehan should get the job full time , but ffs we shouldn’t just discard him on the basis that he’s been an ‘underling’ for close on 2 Years. When called upon he’s shown to be more than capable. If he can pull another 9 to 12 points out of the bag this season then we’re safe. Confidence and stability is what we need right now. Give the geezer a chance at least?

Talking to people in the know in the press room on the weekend, supposedly Ken Gude had revealed that the club have a long term option they’re working todays who would take over at the end of the season… but they’re also prepared with a short term option of things don’t go to plan with Sheehan … but they’re definitely looking towards the long term.

Any names mentioned?

No names sorry.

Just basically they have a long term successor they’re hoping on and a contingency plan if things go to shit in the meantime.

As probably most feel… I’m happy with Sheehan until the end of the season - especially if Saturday is anything to go by… but still want someone new ready and in place by the summer

Can only assume that person is in a current job then.

A lot of managers won’t fancy a job mid season so the logic would be end of the season job, as long as we are proactive and have things lined up I’m not to concerned, but I haven’t got that hope we can be proactive.

Sheehan has probably bought them the time that they need based on Saturday IMO.

Not so much the result, but the fact that he engineered a complete 180 in terms of performance from the same players who have been looking almost entirely out of it since the turn of the year. That whatever switch was flipped after the Boxing Day game to turn a team looking like comfortable mid table candidates into relegation freefall mode has been firmly flipped back.

A lot of managers won't fancy the job until it's all but a guarantee that we survive and remain a championship club.
The next 4 games will have a big say in both survival and regards the new manager, we can't get complacent despite an excellent 3-0 win.

Sheehan carries on the good run, it will certainly put more questions in the owners heads. You will likely find the last thing the players want is a new face coming in and putting doubts in their heads as to what the future holds....I would suspect the players would likely prefer a face already here and their familiar with but we all know that could go either way.

It's going to be an interesting few weeks for sure.

We won't go down.

Plymouth have won 6 games out of 34 all season. They certainly aren't going to win another 4 just over take us which is also contingent on us also losing the majority of our games left.

Last thing we need to do is give the job Sheehan because he's a steady pair of hand. The cycle will continue and this time next season we will be looking for another manager.

If the lad proves he can do the job whilst he's the main man, then fair enough.

Let's not making anymore decisions based on emotions.

Let's make 100% sure and not assume we won't go down because there is a chance.

I'm not for Sheehan, I think as a club and fanbase, making Sheehan manager with the links he has with Paul Watson will just carry the toxic flow that is within the fanbase already
