• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

What would the game look like? I‘d like to see some games arranged at the top level to see how tactics would change. Thoughts?

It would be a mess.

Teams would launch the ball from one goalkeeper to the other.

There would be no midfield. Defenders and goal hangers in both areas.

That would probably be too fundamental a change and could change the way the game is played too much. A better idea IMO which has been mooted many times over the years, would be to extend the 18 yard lines out to the touchlines and only have offsides between the 18 yard and goal lines. This would tend to spread the play out as defences wouldn't push up so far but wouldn't change how the game is played apart from favouring attacking which is not necessarily a bad thing from the entertainment point of view.

I agree but I would place it at halfway between the box and center line, so around 35 yards out?

That was tried and rejected years ago wasn't it. Better in my view to reinforce the offside law to be if you ar offside in the zone you mention, then you are offside. No 'interfering with play' bollocks. But...offside defined as your feet being beyond the last defender.
