• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Maybe Allen going into coaching is the link with regards to no news on Fotheringham and Stearman today.
He might be replacing one of them.

We complained about lack of depth now we are saying we are overloaded in midfield. We was extremely lucky this season we had no serious injuries and bans affecting our midfield or we would be competing with Hull Saturday.

Yes, which is four midfielders competing for three positions and one reserve.
Realistically it will be two positions.
Without a doubt one of the problem positions we will look to resolve is a proper dedicated creative attacking midfielder who would operate ahead of the other two midfielders

Fair point. Ideally we'd have two players able to fill that slot. I think Eom could do it as well as fill in out wide.

Perhaps from a budgetary standpoint that's our best option. A smaller squad but with players who can fill multiple roles.

Isn't that Widell?

Isn't that Widell?
Some things that I have read suggest Widell prefers to play in the middle rather than as a number 10
I had thought he was signed to play as a number 10 but his stats for the season seem to suggest otherwise

The idea of Franco and O'Brien playing behind Widell in the 10 role though is one to be more than a little optimistic for

Sheehan has gone with a 4-1-4-1 on several occasions, especially when Allen has started games. So I see Widdell slotting in alongside O'Brien (if he signs) or Franco.

That does sound exciting. With Allen and Cooper as back up.

Interestingly, when chatting with Sheehan earlier in this week he said he wasn’t sure if Widell was an 8 or a 10… said he needed to watch him more, but wasn’t sure what type of player he was.

Great news if true, O'Brien has been great for us and is clearly a top-end midfielder at Championship level.

If it is true, I can't see any other midfield signings unless we lost Franco. Those hoping to see Fulton replaced will likely be disappointed.

Would imagine the majority of remaining transfer budget will now go on 2 CB's (if Darling is leaving as expected).

This was also my conundrum, when we signed him all the noise was he was a creative 10
But every time I took a peek at his stats to see how he was doing he seemed to be utilized by his club as an 8
