Official Tunes From 76 Heatwave Thread ☀️ 🍸

Loved this song and it is one I always associate with 1976 when I was working in Basingstoke! Was going to post it on this thread last night but checked to see when it was released and turns out it was October '76 so after the 1976 heatwave had broken, so I didn't :D

This classic was released as a single in July 76 just after their 'Agents of Fortune' album which I'd already bought so played it to death during the peak 76 heatwave time. It didn't make the UK charts until 1978 though for some reason but still a radio staple getting on for 50 years later.

Linked to the current temperature maybe :) .

Roxy Music / Bryan Ferry are doing a 50th year reunion tour , probably times are hard for them , so , as a follower of their music over the years , am trekking up to the 02 in Manchester in October for their swansong gig .

Not booked the transport / hotel yet , do not fancy driving into the city , so any advice , the best way to make the trip as easy as possible ? .

Fabulous music here.
One of my favourite bands brought out the album The Royal Scam in the summer of 1976.

Robbie posted about his car earlier, I had a Vanden Plas 1275 then. Just a smarter 1100.
We got married in 1977 and went on honeymoon to Belgium and drove there and back and hundreds of miles whilst there.( we took the ferry too 😉) Loved that car.

Following on the car theme, I was still traveling around on my BSA Starfire going into that summer, a classic 250cc single cylinder, but passed my driving test and bought my first car during the heatwave, a white Datsun Cherry.

Some great tunes on this thread, not sure if one or two on page 1 are from 1976, but great choices none the less.

If you're Traveling up by car it's easy to find.

M56 motorway which then becomes the A5103.
Do not turn off, it's straight through.
After you pass Asda on your left, you'll go under a "white sail" bridge and then immediately get in right hand lane and at roundabout, turn right on to A57(M). In a mile or so turn right on to A6. It's then on your left. If you pass McDonalds you've gone too far. There are hotels about 20 minutes walk away towards the city centre.

Thanks for the info , done a bit of digging , looks like there is a direct train service Neath - Piiccadilly available so might use that option and find a reasonable hotel for an overnight stop .

Never been to Manchester or this Arena even , which I gather is rather big , so be interesting to see if Roxy Music , an unknown name to many , can still fill a venue like this size.

Looks like a tour , and this show , will only be attended by elderly life long fans like me :D
