• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

But the BBC are reporting the exact same story but from a different angle. I also have a chuckle to myself when I read some of the mails slant on a story.
Clue is in the different angle reporting.

Apparently not. I read a legal expert recently explain why. The people on the boats are illegal migrants until the reach our shores (not asylum seekers) at which point they become asylum seekers. If we tried to turn them back at any point in the channel, the French could do the same.

There's a great comedy skit in the making there, of a ship from one navy forcing a small boat to turn around and go the other way, only to be turned back within seconds by the other navy, rinse and repeat. Possibly a little too dark?

Monty Python would have got away with it, back in the day. When people were allowed to have a sense of humour.

Are we not allowed humour now then? Did I miss a memo?
Last time I said this you had a pop at me but I’m going to say it again anyway …. We’ve been here for years and you can tell the membership is ageing because it is becoming more conservative and angry. Give them a couple more years and we’ll be reminiscing the good old days of comedy like Love Thy Neighbour and ‘til Death Do Us Part.

I can’t remember having a go at you for saying that but I won’t argue the point. If I did disagree last time I think I’ve changed my mind. It would be a crying shame if this forum went down the shitter other internet places have circled for years now, but there are sadly signs of it happening.

It feels hopeless at times but I’m sensing enough of us here to keep pushing back.

I've been here for decades and I'm 70 next year. I look around the world and I see Trump and his MAGA cult, Farage and the lurch to the right of what used to be centre right politics here, and I feel more left wing than I ever have in my life.

Yet and to hark back to a conversation on here earlier this week, you probably haven’t moved an inch.
