Surely if Wales' testing capacity at this moment is 15,000, then Welsh Government should be using the spare daily capacity to test teachers, to test care home workers, to test hospital staff, to test other workers who spend much of their day in close contact with vulnerable or large groups of people.

Welsh Government are putting countless small (and large) businesses through terrible situations due to their policies, forcing huge numbers to lose jobs. Yet they are sitting around allowing 13,000 tests per day to go unused? It is scandalous.

The English Premier League managed to test 2,250 players, league and club personnel for Round 11's games at the end of June.

Formula 1 managed to test 4,566 people at the racing circuit in Austraia for the Grand Prix last week.

They are doing a lot of antibody tests for staff in the hospitals.

Problem is Dwight the qPCR test only detects active infection. There are probably only around 2000 active infections in Wales at the moment.
Unless there is wide availability of an antibody Test to shown exposure then PHW are right to keep their powder dry for any local spikes or waves.

There are enough reports about T-cells coming out that suggest antibodies might not be all that anyway.

Yes Dwight, scandalous. We're rather unfortunate in Wales in that we have to deal with both the incompetence from Westminster accompanied by a rather useless dollop of Drakeford thrown in. 39 deaths in last 24 hours, 1 in Wales, ZERO in Scotland and yet our blubbering idiot carries on with his political nonsense whilst failing to deliver on things like testing.

I said this back in March- however antibody tests are easy to show exposure. You rarely get complete polarity of cellular (Th1-cytotoxic T cells like you are thinking of Winston) or humoral (Th2- antibody) responses. Measuring specific T cells is not really something that can be easily done as a diagnostic

Anecdotal evidence for the moment, it needs to be ...tested.

It Doesn't appear that anyone anywhere has caught this twice.Symptoms have sometime come back, but no sign of fresh infections.

Even if they have it’s nowhere near the numbers that have caught it and are none the wiser whatsoever.

I think that I can pretty much guarantee that Dr Winston wasn't thinking about Th1-cytotoxic T cells.

It seems pretty much agreed that T cells play a big role in our immune response, as you say measuring is difficult and we need to get better at understanding their role.

It took five days to return my NHS Wales day two test this week and my day eight could take as long so it could potentially be fourteen days isolation on return to Wales for me, being as day two is actually day three due to return being day zero. Meanwhile my colleagues that returned to England are all out and about due to their five day release test. Good job I’m leaving the country again on Monday. It’s fine to fly 12 hours to another continent whilst in quarantine but I can’t go down the road to the dentist or get my second jab. Drakeford has fucked this up massively.
