Our centre backs

Burgess and Cabango play a serious amount of 5 yard passes back and forth between themselves every game mind.
Twice (probably more) today, they played a long ball through to Vip, he flicked it out wide to our wingers, it was back to sender immediately.
Coventry, Boro and Saints never did that.
Russell Martin was ridiculed for this and we’re still doing it.
Widdel was the exception today, he wanted to get forward.

I can’t believe we didn’t get a dedicated CB in to replace Casey. We kind of knew by January that Santos wasn’t favoured. I know we’ve got Ward but realistically it’ll be difficult for him to play consecutive 90 minutes, we are extremely lucky that both Burgess and Cabango have stayed fit this season.

As for the ball playing aspect, it is something that needs looking at because as good as Burgess and Cabango can be for us defensively, they’re too similar to be playing next to one another in my opinion.

I think they give each other the jitters and once one makes a mistake panic sets in although il say today Vig was very sloppy with his disrubution which added to the nerves. For fear of pelters we have massively missed Darlings composure this year.

I'm sounding like a broken record, but Burgess has cost us many points this season with Sunday league defending. The number one priority in the summer is a comfortable on-the-ball center-half to play alongside Cabango. The problem is, you won't get much change out of 8 million pounds.

Yep, we can’t start an attacking move with our current CBs, who are decent defenders but we need someone with the composure to pick a crafty pass out a few times per game

Burgess needs to be replaced. Just not good enough. It doesn't help his cause that he seems to spend most of the game whining to the ref. Bruno F can get away with it 'cos he's brilliant. Burgess ain't Bruno.

I didn’t think I’d say this but I agree about Darling, even though I’d like someone better than him too.

Forgot about Casey, give me him instead any day

I thought he was really unlucky to not play more and looked decent whenever he did, but he’s been in and out of the Leyton Orient side who are in a relegation battle in League 1.

Wouldn’t be against signing him if he’s available reasonably cheap - guess that’ll depend if West Ham stay up or not.

I could see an argument that Burgess for Darling was an upgrade under Sheehan and the way he wanted us to play, but the opposite is true under Matos.

I feel a bit for the bloke, he's obviously got his strengths and he has been ever-present as others have pointed out, but him and Cabango don't work as a pair in this system (again plenty of others have pointed this out).
