I'm not clever enough to understand the details of footballers contracts. But, in any other job if you refused to work you would be disciplined and sacked. Why does it seem this sanction is not available to football clubs?

It's not any other job, it's stands alone so therefore it cannot be judged along side other jobs. Name me another job where you get paid way way over the odds for having fun?

But I don't know of any other job where your boss can extend your contract against your will and also refuse to give you a pay rise.
