• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

On University Challenge I can hear he's slurring a bit and he doesn't look at all well.
I think he has Parkinsons.
Fair play to him to keep going.

He’s stepping down from University Challenge after this series due to the Parkinson’s. .

It's a great shame. Aside from his journalistic work which I admire, I think he's been absolutely outstanding in his marathon run as presenter of University Challenge. It used to be thought no-one could outperform Bamber Gasgoine, but Paxo made it his own with his mix of acerbic wit, strictness and encyclopedic knowledge. Comes to us all in the end, I suppose, but he will be greatly missed.

Good comeback from Christ's Cambridge to win by 20 against Oriel Oxford.....one of the girls from Christ's, Wright from Swansea...

I wish he was still interviewing politicians. It would have been fascinating to see him deal with Boris, Rees-Mogg, Truss et al.

They would never be interviewed by him, they never take on the real journalists.

The current set of politicians from all parties are nothing but a very pale imitation of the heavyweight politicians of my youth. You might not have agreed with their views but you couldn’t help but be impressed with their intellect and beliefs.

I self cheer like I have raised the FA Cup when I get a question right on University Challenge but when it comes to Only Connect I throw the towel in , no idea what is going on there .

Bamber Gascoigne and that programme was my much watched tele back then , and still watch the show if I can , not seen the recent screenings though , hopefully Paxman is still sharp .

They played a carpenters song this week and none of them had a clue who it was
They know fvck all

Correct. The likes of Kuenssberg, Peston and Co should hang their heads in shame

I saw part of a UC show a few weeks ago and nobody recognised Bohemian Rhapsody FFS! Surely one of the best known and most easily recognisable hits of all time??

I saw him as guest question master on HIGNFY a few years ago and Steph McGovern really handed him his arse on a plate when she said "You're a patronising git, aren't you", it was hilarious.
