Piroe confirmed

If there's around £5m worth of add-ons, I would think that would be at least partly based on how many goals he scores and if Leeds are promoted.

I have no problem hoping Joel scores plenty (except against us of course), but not sure I can genuinely hope Leeds get promoted, even if that is financially good for the Swans.

Oh well, goodbye, auf wiedersehn, farewell.. Hope your form improves for your sake; if it doesn't then couldn't care less, because, Leeds.

Advanced discussions were also held with Southampton chief Paul Wilcox. Indeed, Piroe was initially very enthusiastic about the prospect of moving to the Saints, and the chance to reunite with former boss Russell Martin.

However, the level of effort Leeds made to sign the Netherlands under-20 international proved to be a key factor in persuading him to move to west Yorkshire, with United working round the clock with Piroe's camp this week to thrash out the nitty gritty bits of the deal.

There was initially a concern that the previous stand-off between Piroe's camp and the Swans over the terms of a sale might make a deal more complicated. But Gretar Steinsson's insistence on going straight to City's American owners, rather than through Watson, who had previously been responsible for negotiations, effectively rendered those concerns redundant.

Perhaps wary of the possibility of losing him for nothing, the owners effectively helped move the sale along in a manner they believe suits all parties.

That bit's not going to go down too well.

I mean who the f*** is communicating information like this out?

Talk about openly sidelining Watson

Leeds, presumably.

This will only come as a shock to those that have believed some of the absolute nonsense being spoken this summer.

You know, the investment means we don’t need to sell our main players, we have a new regime in place, all decisions are now made locally, we are not advertising the size of investment received on companies house so that clubs don’t know how much money we have (for the group of not very expensive players we have brought in), the spend is the biggest it ever has been etc etc etc.

This bit concerned me as well. What is the point of having a director of football in charge of transfer negotiations if you sideline him from a negotiation?
The naïve part of me is hoping that the owners went to Watson and he agreed to a compromise if conditions were met about reinvesting the Piroe money.

In the words of Nat King Cole, "There may be trouble ahead".

Funnily enough it was from Tom Coleman.

No wonder Leeds beat them to it. Was Jason busy?

Arguably, the two best strikers in the Championship last season were Gyokeres and Piroe.

Gyokeres went for £20m + add ons. And he went abroad, he's no threat to Coventry and they haven't strengthened a rival.

We've practically given Piroe away for a fee that only guarantees us half what Coventry got for Gyokeres, and to a direct rival.

It's really not a good deal. Not a good deal at all. But then we shouldn't be surprised, the club has history for badly negotiating fees on departing players.

For all the good work the club has done getting bodies through the door this summer, this takes the shine off that completely for me.
