Play-offs

A very cagey game so far. I fancy Coventry might nick a late one goal advantage. Sunderland have hardly broken out of their own half and seem content to soak up pressure.

Wouldn't be surprised if this ends goalless, would suit sunderland, so far not much of a spectacle, if either of these go up its likely to be grim

Sunderland's recent form has been shocking. Maybe that was because they knew they were guaranteed a play-off spot, but as I'm sure someone once said, you can't turn it on and off at will. They'll be happy with 0-0 so far though.

Better second half, Sunderland edging it thanks to a disastrous Coventry underhit backpass which led to the winning goal.
Coventry and the garden gnome have a mountain to climb now.

Looks like an all red-and-white-stripes final then.

I always think it just feels fairer when the 3rd and 4th place teams make the final. Especially this season, SU and Sunderland were miles ahead of the other two.

I'd prefer to see SU go up because they'll be more of a pain in the arse next season, Sunderland don't strike me as a team that would go this well again next season, this is their big chance imho.

Howler of a pass that, puts Sunderland in the driving seat though their recent form for the final 5 or 6 games of the season has been appalling. Could argue they were lucky as they took the two real opportunities that came their way but still if you don't defend properly it doesn't matter how lucky you would get and they were rock solid defensively barring that one free header for the equalizer.

Some things never change. Our former no 8 still can’t beat the first man at set pieces. A case of Grimesiitis which thankfully has been eradicated from the swans.

Sunderland fielded the youngest squad in the Championship this season. They're only likely to improve. Mind you so should we with the likes of Eom and Franco having bedded in

Shocking decision by the lino for the Orient goal.
For me this is an unintended consequence of VAR.

I've noticed it a lot these days, linos are less inclined to put their flag up because they think oh it's ok, VAR will bail me out if I'm wrong. Which is all well and good, but if it's not there....

I have a degree of sympathy with refs because it must be difficult to get out of one mindset and into another depending on whether or not there's a camera there to bail you out. Surely they can't enjoy it.

Another reason to bin VAR for me.

If Sheffield United think Darling will be any use to them in the Premier league they're dafter than I thought.
Got to agree.
Think even the aging prem strikers and wingers would be ripping him to shreds.
Pretty good in the championship, but like Dobbs, isn't quite good enough for the prem IMHO.

Now he's bound to prove me wrong 🤣

I can't remember, is the semi automated offside system being rolled out across the whole professional pyramid next season or is it just the Prem?
