It's ludicrous that goals that are miles offside are allowed to stand given the technology available. Goalline technology illustrates perfectly where we could be at already. Goalline technology has been universally accepted. Even when there's highly marginal decisions, with millimetres in it, there is no debate or discussion, the decision of the technology is taken as gospel. A big part of the reason for that degree of acceptance I would suggest is the fact that the decisions are pretty much instantaneous, not interrupting the flow of the game at all. The accuracy of the decisions seems irrelevant compared to that big advantage.
Using chips in balls and the ones already located in these sports bras that players wear to track their positions, amongst other things, and it should be possible to have instantaneous fully automated offside decisions. It might need tweaking of the offside law to stipulate that, say offside is defined by the position of that part of the body between the shoulder blades, which would give a small advantage to the attacking side. If this would result in immediate decisions on offside, which didn't interrupt the flow of the game, I think there would be the same universal acceptance of the change as we've seen with goalline technology.
