• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

So pleased that Cardiff didn’t get through. IF and a very big IF they had and we had lost to them their fans would have been insufferable.

I remember praying we'd get em cos we'd have literally passed it around em. The bitterness from em would have been off the scale. It's a massive regret of mine we never had the chance.

I remember talking with my mates about the possibility of Cardiff in the final.
My anxiety was sky high just thinking about playing them in the final - I would have hated actually having to actually play them.

I don't actually know how the authorities could have made it work at Wembley.

On the presumption it would have had to remain a bubble (which would have raised some awkward questions if it hadn't have been) then how do you bus two lots of 40,000 fans down the M4 on the same day, and on a Bank Holiday weekend as well, the travel disruption it would have caused would have been unreal. And then when you get them there, where do all the coaches park, how do you keep the two sets of fans apart, and how the hell do you manage it afterwards?

They would have had to switch it to the Millennium Stadium imo. I can't see how they could have done it otherwise.

The strong rumour was that our lot would have been diverted up the M5 then down tge M1 to avoid clashes at the services. But as you say, thousands from both sides would have made a weekend of it . To have policed the train/underground, Wembley way pre and post match would have been mental.

There wouldn’t have been enough coaches to bus all fans there mun. They would have to have put special trains on as a minimum. It would have been impossible for them to police no matter what.

It was the same situation in 1997. Swans played Chester in the play off semis (and won) and Cardiff played Northampton in the other semi final ( with Northampton winning). Although the teams were in a lower division the problems would have been exactly the same, just on a smaller scale.

Lower division but the problem may well have been worse, while hooliganism's "golden" age was over the 90s still had more than its fair share of "ultras" looking to kick off a fight. The situation may have been even more dangerous for genuine travelling fans than 2012 had Cardiff won their tie against Northampton in my opinion

Yeah and then factor in how many fans from both clubs would be travelling from different parts of the country. The tube in particular would be a nightmare

I have a vague memory that the Millennium Stadium was hosting the rugby European Cup final (just like it is tomorrow) at the time but may be wrong?

Going for a Blades 2-0 or 2-1 today

Although I rather see the black cats promoted

I would rather see Sheff Utd go up, they would probably be the biggest team in the division next year.

Only reason they haven't pissed the league is because of how absurdly strong Leeds and Burnley were

Can only see Sheff Utd winning this. Tho a Newc/Sunland derby be good to see next year.
3-1 Sheff Utd for me.
