• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

Have you tried acupuncture? Although I imagine much will hinge on the state of the tendon
No, but I will do. I normally get through flare ups with drugs or injection, thinking it won’t happen again. GP or local hospital injections are no longer an option and I organised this latest one off my own back (and wallet). I am out next week but once home I will start the long term solution path via NHS.

The first one I had was instantaneous relief, but several since have taken some time to settle things down. I also had an ultrasound on Thursday and they noticed a tear in the tendon, I will get some physio organised on the back of this.
What have you done to have caused it?
I came off my Scrambler and dislocated mine, that got better then 5yrs of more later I hurt it playing rugby and it just wouldn't settle down, I was out of work at the time and got offered a job where I had to work off a short scaffold platform drilling brackets above my head to fir pipework it was agony, luckily I knew the lads I was working with and they covered for me and I did they easier work, didn't last though the pain became unbearable and I had to take time off, luckily my job was kept open for me.

In other news, you're all getting old tw*ts and have never done any strength work.. proper work now, not lifting weights thinking you're superman.. 16 years old I was on the pick and shovel.. from about 7 to 5 and 6 months 15 minute break and about 5 minutes watering the plants.. my school kicked me out early in march, didn't even sit exams and practically seeing the dead at this point.. everyone goes on about a tough job, try a pick and shovel.. just try it, you'll be f*cked after 20 minutes.. especially when you've got to exscavate a root of a tree.. they had me up on a roof doing all sorts the daft old c*nts did, hammering, loft conversion, floor work.. they expected me to be an experienced hand like, sawing wood, you name it, i did it, i even had to feed animals.. they give me 30 quid a week.. after thieving wood to build the f*cking thing after selling it for profit, no wonder he was a millionaire the tight old codger, RIP anyway

No idea. Played a lot of rugby and golf in my younger days, but this tendon tear wasn’t visible when I had it scanned a few years ago. I also have small calcium deposits embedded in the tendon and it’s these which are inflaming the joints, hence the pain.

I had one on my shoulder years ago it took a month/6 weeks before I felt any benefit from it, I've had no problems since, went from hardly being able to lift my arm above my head to virtually a full range of movement after 6 weeks and it got better and better, meaning I never needed another injection.
I also had a cortisone injection in my shoulder a few years ago for a pain I'd had for around 8-9 months. Pain went in a few days and has never returned. 👍

My eldest been suffering with back and knee issues for maybe 3-5yrs, he recently and at long last had an MRI scan after blood tests showed something, he spoke to Rheumatologist today who told him he's got Ankylosis Spondylitis, Mrs was in tears telling me, but thankfully it can be managed with exercise and medication, apparently its caused by a gene variant.

The right form of exercise and physiotherapy can play a massive part in stabilisation and rehabilitation. I’m going to pay more attention to it now that I have bought myself a little time.

Waiting on his rheumatologist appointment, in the meantime he’s continuing managing the issue has he has been doing, at least we’ve got a diagnosis now.
