Playing out from the back

The problem under Williams is that we don't play through the thirds anywhere near enough. Far too often we get Vigouroux, the centre backs and Grimes to hit long diagonals. They have little choice as the distances to Franco, Cullen and the inverted full backs are generally enormous.
Not sure what you're game you are watching.

I've lost count how many times the diagonal ball over the top for the likes of Ronald to latch on to have been on only for us to pass back and forth and lose the chance to get in behind.

We are so slow getting the ball forward under Williams and Martin the opposition have the time to get back in to shape which means any space has now gone.

The opposition are either happy for us to keep the ball because we don't create anything or they press us high and put pressure on the back four and keeper because we can't pass water.

Surprised (well not really) that there are no objections to Vigouroux and our Centre backs hoofing away a lot of possession. Vigouroux has one of the best long ball accuracies in the league, but he still loses possession 57% of the time from long balls. No coincidence that he only delivered 10 long balls in the QPR game, down from 30 in the Hull game.

Swansea fans really should know better than dissing building out from the back. The problem is that we don't do this enough under Williams. Far too many long balls from Vigouroux, the centre backs and Grimes.
I am full on a fan of playing out from the back, but there are ways to do and ways not to do it.

The current Swans squad is for the most part very static when it comes to waiting to receiving passes and not enough players are making the right offers for the man in possession for them to make a meaningful pass. All too often the player on the ball takes a touch (or three) and then passes it 5-10 yards to a player who is already marked, meaning player either needs to take a risk turning into his man, passing it straight back to the first player or playing a first time pass to someone else who is offering for the ball who is on the move and thus not being marked.

The problem right now is very very players offer option 3.

The Rodger's era every player usually had at least 3-4 options of where to pass the ball and there were always players moving to create triangles and moving into space to give their team mates options to pass the ball where it can be more dangerous and lead to opportunities.

All too often right now because the tempo of the moving of the ball is so low one touch pass and move football is not an option unless we are being forced into it by a team that is pressing hard. At that point its often a 50/50 split on whether we rise to meet their challenge or fold like a pack of cards.

The opposition have time to walk into town, have a couple of pints then walk back before we get anywhere near thier 18yrd box... 👍

Drives me insane how slow we are.

If someone can explain to me why they enjoy watching us play, I'm all ears.

I find it bizarre that we seem to have a plan to get the ball into the oppositions half and no plan once we get there. So we just reset and go back to Vig to start al over again.
You missed out the bit where we piss about on the wings for a few hours before going back to Vig.

Thing is Smurph, if just about everyone with working eyes and a working brain can see the issues (and throw in a shedload of Saints fans too), then I come back to, what are they doing in training?

As he’s our target man, maybe we should play Vig up front. We’d get the ball forward much quicker…

Same thing over and over by the looks of it.

Any player with an ounce of talent would pull his hair out in this team.

Ronald looks like he's forgotten what his feet are for.

By the time Darling, Cabango and Grimes have passed it back and forth to each other big Vig can make it in to the oppositions box.

The loss to Wycombe in the cup finally changed my opinion. The team didn’t know how to get into the opposition half, especially when they were pressing us so well.
At times under Potter and Martin, I thought we looked electric. We don’t have those players anymore.
