I’m stuck in a twitter death loop since last night cos I replied to a Martin acolyte. These people have got it bad. I don’t get it. Williams is Russy without the sumptuous hair. As managers they’re basically the same person. Useless.

And without the intelligence and PR skills. And without winning 4/4 derby matches.

I can't stand Martin but you can see why fans of a certain age liked him so much.

Someone who is 30 now would have been 12 when Martinez took over, 16 when we got promoted to the Premier League and 19 by the time Laudrup was sacked. What followed was a series of pretty uncharismatic managers playing crap football and losing games.

Martin came in as a young and charming manager, knowing exactly how to play the PR game. The fact that he went from League One to a side almost guaranteed promotion to the PL without ever achieving anything is astonishing... But testament to his bullshitting abilities.

It’s not going to happen but I’m a fan and by the way I’m 61.

Less than five percent of the fan base are members on here so it’s hardly an accurate opinion on Martins previous spell.

Whatever his shortcomings ( and yes he had a few ) i believe we were making progress under him and would have liked to have seen another season with him in charge.

Like I said it’s not going to happen but I don’t get all the vitriol that’s aimed at him.

Making progress 😂😂😂😂😂
Didn’t the last ten games read ….won 7, drew 2 and lost 1.
I know a season isn’t based on the last ten games but that’s progress in my opinion.
Of course you’ll always get those who will say that those were meaningless fixtures at the end of the season and I don’t doubt that you’re in that camp.
AGAIN, like I said it’s not going to happen so don’t get your knickers in a twist.

Didn't mean to like.

He was a fraud, he played the fans, divided the club and caused chaos.

Misused a good squad (especially looking back) like Ntcham, Obafemi, Paterson and of course Whittaker.

Should never, ever return

Ntcham, Obafemi and Paterson😂, really ripping up trees they are at the moment,
Whittaker wasn’t rated by a couple of our previous managers either, can’t argue that he didn’t do a good job for the Pilgrims but let’s see how the future pans out for him as well.

Someone's gonna have to say where the fck this has come from? My money on some vermin stirring it up.
Massive iff, but that happens, I'm done.

I think it was the divisive way he handled players and threw them under the bus individually too.

Ntcham is doing just fine where is by the way. Patterson is approaching mid thirties and Obafemi is too busy at Burger King.

Except to achieve those results he binned much of what he'd spent the last two years trying and failing miserably to make work.

We switched to a back four. We stopped that short goal kick routine. We stopped playing risky defensive passes just for the sheer suicidal hell of it. We started putting players in the right positions; Ntcham was excellent in that last ten games playing in the central midfield position he should have been in all along instead of in a wider role (seems familiar that). Even Fisher looked more comfortable with a defence doing non-stupid things ahead of him.

If we'd achieved those results without making such changes then you could reasonably call it progress. Otherwise we'll have to call it what it was: An admission of failure.

People like that clearly have a very selective memory.

They have conveniently forgotten about the fact that he gave insider information to a rival club so that they could get optimal conditions to poach him from us.

A rat will always be a rat, stay clear and better yet hire an exterminator.

We got those results because he abandoned his system and played in a totally different way.
He needed to raise his profile as he had been told he was gone in the summer.
Before those 10 games we won 3 times is 23?
Moaned he was nt supported in the window but got those results with the same players he had had all season but playing differently he shoukd have done that 15 games earlier who knows if he had he might have got us in then playoffs or better.

Such a great post.

I honestly question why some fans go to the football. It clearly isn't to watch anything exciting on the pitch.

Who enjoyed our twenty odd games without winning.

My personal highlight was throwing away a two nil lead against Millwall in the last couple of minutes of the game along with that awful social media clip before the Blackburn game.
