It's an interesting debate.

It probably shouldn't go unnoted that Rodgers preferred starting midfield that season was Britton, Gower and Orlandi. None of whom could seriously be considered as creative attacking types.

We were a much, much more effective team, and a helluva lot more fun to watch once he decided to play Dobbie in that attacking #10 role. An early example of player ability exceeding the statistical analysis and preferred setup.

He did struggle with his fitness in fairness but the same might be said of Franco.

On a football level anyone who’d pick Darling over peak Garry Monk probably shouldn’t be allowed out unaccompanied. Monk played dozens of Premier League games in a moderately good Premier League team. Darling has probably played roughly the same amount of second tier games in a bang average to poor Championship team. Have a word with yourselves mun.
