“Venture capitalist” seems to be very similar to hedge fund? But I’m far from an expert. Anyone?

Weird because the poster has never posted regarding the swans before from what I can see. Does follow a lot of MLS stuff though.

Maybe that’s why Kaplan was in London then at Swansea for a few days, let’s see how this week goes now.

Definitely.

More Americans though, but suppose it’s either Americans or Saudis buying clubs anyway, just hope whatever happens it works out for us, don’t think this guy who’s posted it either is making it up why would he? His posts suggest he’s an MLS fan and is sharing news he’s been told over there.

Did see that someone asked if it was him and he replied nope, will be interesting to see regardless.

Hmm.

The Reddit post is from Florida judging by the user name.

There is an outfit called GACP Sports based in Florida who’ve been looking for ages to get a foothold in a British club. They part owned (may still do) a couple of French teams and there was a bit of a back and forth about whether or not the bloke there was talking to Ashley to buy Newcastle. He said he was, NUFC said it was nonsense.

Would be exactly the sort of fund that Kaplan et al would look for.

Could just be coincidence though.

The “Trust” have indicated a full sale is not on the cards, so looks more like potential investment other than a takeover.

Unfortunately

The outfit I mentioned often take minority interests in clubs. c. 10%-15% in Bordeaux for example.

According to the reddit user. It's not GACP and the firm is not bases in florida.
Apparently they're in Wales now.

A full takeover is "possible but unlikely" according to people who would know. Chances are it's a Silverstein type partial investment if anything.

I don't see Kaplan or Levein being in any rush to sell. Some of the minor investors might take the opportunity but by this point they would probably have made their initial investment back in tax breaks and writeoffs. They'll probably be quite happy maintaining a smaller shareholding. Would only take one promotion to put them right back into the black potentially.

Some people may be about to get what they wished for...

And it ain't going to be a Saudi Prince neither

Can't see Phil's article linked elsewhere on forum.

Sounds to me then, as expected, just investment from external source and Levien still calling the shots. Until he goes, we are in the same boat as we have been since he arrived here, and it's sinking.
