Ronald

I'm not sure Ronald can be redeemed at this point. He's more Ronald McDonald than Ronaldo on the spectrum. I used to admire his work rate and his ability to chip in with a few assists, but I think it's clear at this stage that he's not up to it and we need to move on. Same with Benson. F*ck me, our right-hand side is so bad, makes our options on the left seem like Champions League winners in comparison.
Ronald, Benson, Key, Eom and occasionally a few others are all the same. Effin useless.
The transfer turned out to be not half as good as I thought at the beginning of the season

I'm not sure Ronald is the sharpest tool in the box. Either that or he is still struggling with English.
Met him once, could barely speak any English. May have been a bluff though as he didn't fancy having a chat.

We have a squad of players signed based on being good out of possession and physical, but compared to the other teams in the league they do not even stand out that much physically. Ronald embodies this, we went into the season knowing he would start almost every game on the right wing because we ignored that position, he is very much a perfect player for Sheehan and his system. If Inoussa was excellent, Ronald would probably be the least of our worries and would be quietly effective and do the hard work. Having no quality across the front line has lead to us having a squad full of players like Ronald who are all exposed without more attacking quality to take the focus off of them.

Playing the ball to his feet and expecting him to be able to hold it up against defenders who are physically much stronger is a big ask as he’s not exactly an Arnold Schwarzenegger type.
He received quite a few short passes the other night ( quite a few were when he had his back to their goal) and he invariably got out muscled, if the team want to get the best out of him I think they’ve got to play the ball so he can run on to it because his pace could frighten the life out of the opposition under the right circumstances.

I think his game is really suffering on account of the lack of positivity and attacking intent throughout the team. Hopefully Matos can sort it out, 73% possession, losing 1 2 and only scoring when the game is dead and buried is infuriating.

Like Eom I'm not writing him off. Yes he hasn't been great but he was performing well at the start of the season and was getting a few goals. Does he look for a foul. Yes. Does he most of the time fail to get past defender. Yes. But against Derby he was shouting at the players for not getting in the box as no options was available. Maybe give him a rest. I wouldn't want Benson instead. He looks worse. Proberly try Eom and Inoussa with Widell behind VP.
