• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

How much did you owe? 🤣. It was on the telly the other night. I didn’t recognise it. I was there in 1981-84. The North Peckham Estate and up towards the OKR was pretty daunting. At least I managed to avoid New Cross and Deptford, I suppose. Lots of bad areas around in those days…I used to run through Brixton and Streatham without thinking, even after the Brixton riots. People used to wave at me. Probably thought I was rock hard or insane. Or, in a t-shirt and shorts there’s nothing to mug me for.

Did you go to that infamous game at the den i think in 84?

I was living 7 miles from Peckham at the time

I was on my way there and had a minor car prang which put paid to me getting there in time. Lucky escape.

Lived by Queens Road Station so towards New Cross. Working as a technician in central London on £500 a month. The market was a godsend.
Lived in Tooting and Streatham too. Actually quite liked Peckham. Given me a long term like of curry goat!

Lived in Tooting as a student 87/88. Near Broadway Station

I lived on the Wandsworth Road by Tooting Bec tube station. Regular buses to Clapham and Streatham on the route masters (sometimes paid 😉) hop on and off, northern line to Waterloo and trains from Balham. I don't even have a railway station now 😕
