Russia-Ukraine

Some fear they may use Thermobaric bombs, apparently they moved launchers close to the border days ago.

"the effect of an FAE explosion within confined spaces is immense. Those near the ignition point are obliterated. Those at the fringe are likely to suffer many internal, thus invisible injuries, including burst eardrums and crushed inner ear organs, severe concussions, ruptured lungs and internal organs, and possibly blindness." Another Defense Intelligence Agency document speculates that, because the "shock and pressure waves cause minimal damage to brain tissue ... it is possible that victims of FAEs are not rendered unconscious by the blast, but instead suffer for several seconds or minutes while they suffocate".

It's very depressing to hear about all these weapons, bombs etc
It seems mankind has spent a lot of time fearing each other to develop such violent objects☹️

Just watching the NATO sec gen, it was inferred that Putin may see that as interference from the West/NATO, and seek reprisals. I dunno mate. The situation is horrendous.

It isn't a secret, we sent them a load of weapons a few weeks ago. Other countries done the same, while the Germans stopped Estonia sending them stuff.

Something to do with German law about not exporting its weapons to a war zone I think.

That bit I can understand after its history but Germany and Italy are cowering vermin for opposing Russia being kicked off SWIFT. All because of Russian gas supplies. A pox on them.

The more you read the more it becomes clear that Putin has become unhinged mentally and now sees these actions as the only thing left he can do to avoid dying with a sense of failure.

It's basically a dictator's mid-life crisis, involving war.

There is no realistic expectation of continued diplomatic relations with Russia while he is in power and only his removal begins any kind of rebuilding process. The longer this continues, the more effectively Russia moves onto the same level as North Korea.

1 year of being ostracised probably doesn't make a huge difference, but 5, 10 even 20 years down the line and the country will be savaged with poverty and civil war.

I envisage a Russian civil war will be the only way this ends.

Sending German soldiers to fight in Ukraine or Russia is not a good image, for reasons that we all understand. I work in the financial district of London (in the smallest capacity imaginable - I'm not a banker) and SWIFT is incredibly important. Throwing Russia out of it would probably damage Germany more than Russia. So far Germany's economic sanctions have been more stringent than ours, and they are making a bigger sacrifice by sacrificing gas supplies, so they are not "cowering vermin".

By the way, has anyone watched the Russian sponsored channel RT News? It's on Freeview Channel 234 with some strange neighbours:
231 BBC News
232 Sky News
234 RT News
235 Al Jazeerah
236 GB News

Switch between them and your head will begin to hurt.

About time some countries joined in and helped Ukraine
Poland have said they will take all refugees, without exception.
NATO has announced they are sending more defensive troops to guard against further incursions into other Eastern NATO countries.

I hope Priti Patel is beefing up the Royal Navy in the English Channel to stop the tens of thousands of Ukrainian so-called "refugees" that will be sailing here this summer. And expanding the refugee camps in Calais. No doubt the Daily Mail and Daily Express will be saying that we should let them drown.

Is there a rule that refugees should only be taken in by the nearest country to them? So we should only take in refugees from Ireland? The country is "full up" according to UKIP anyway.

Fair point, my post was made in anger but I'm right in respect of German (and to be fair whole of europe after the Crimean invasion) appeasement of Russia.

Currently I'm hearing sporadic gunfire on a cam feed for Kyiv. Europe sleeps (literally and metaphorically) whilst the Ukraine is another pawn in geopolitics.

Molotovs do work quite well...

No need for a civil war and more bloodshed. The Qasem Soleimani treatment for Putin would suffice.

Besides everything that's already been said, presuming we are still here the Russian people will be hated and vilified for generations to come in a way the Germans were. Granted the vast majority of them don't want this war, but that's how folk react. Just another reason why Putin is a complete tool and needs extinguishing.

I don't think Russian people will be hated, not by most civil people anyway. No doubt there will be some, like the boneheads that hate all brown people, or the ones that sing about German bombers being shot down by the English RAF. Anyone with a modicum of sense can see it is not the Russian people who are doing this. But there again, nothing would surprise me much today to be honest.
