S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 1 Sheffield United 0 | Att: 15,816 | The EFL Championship | 3pm, 16.08.25 | The Swansea.com Stadium

That was pretty decent and deserved to get another couple of goals....a decent striker and I believe it would certainly have been 2-0.

Defensively strong, Burgess was a bit of worry first 30mins but grew into it.
Midfield is already looking good, I have no doubt it will get stronger every game with another due in.
Ronald was Ronald but ultimately was the match winner, Eom and Inoussa done what they needed to and again will get better.

Cullen was annoying for 60 odd minutes and then got into it for 20 mins but isn't striker, doesn't ask the defence enough questions up top, he drops back but then when he got the ball dropping deep showed what he can do......imagine a striker playing off one or 2 of his through balls!?

Overall a lot of encouragement there today.

Sheehan playing sensible football according to the game and opposition. At last we have energy and athleticism across most of the team and especially the engine room. Galbraith is a real talent and like what I’ve seen of the Brighton loanee. Cullen ran his socks off with little reward. Eom the only disappointment for me today. Add a proper number 9 to the squad and full back cover and we will be just fine.
And man it was sticky enough in the stands so the lads deserve some fluids tonight.

Just getting back.
The defence looked solid. Tymon and Key looked good going forward too.
Galbraith was great again.
Loved Sheehan’s passion on the side.

Well said Daps.

Cullen is a 10 all day long, but to accommodate that, you have to change the whole system and drop one of the midfield 3. It doesn't help we give him very little to work with, but he's not a Piroe who can create something out of nothing or a Bony who can hold the ball up until support arrives, so he struggles to get involved.

If we get a quality striker, Cullen is perfect to bring on to play behind him when we're chasing a game.

They were absolute gash, only threat was from a long throw or corner. As i said earlier, there's far too much respect shown to bang average teams. Wimbledon didn't win the F A cup because they had the best players.
You're right, they were poor today and we deservedly won the game. Your carping about them before the game smacked of getting ready to pile on Sheehan again if we didn't win.

Didn't you hear.. Swans TV said it was our issue.

Hi.... ,

When buffering happens, this is related to the internet connection and very rarely to the stream itself, I have spoken with the OPs team who handle and monitor all the streams and they have confirmed there were no outages during this event.

I understand this isn't the answer you expected but we want to get your issue fixed and resolved asap , please find below some factors that can hugely affect your broadband and potential viewing/ listening.

We would always get you to check with your supplier for the best and most effective way to improve and maintain a great broadband connection and to see to if there has been any drop outs or dips in the connection.
Like plenty of others on here today, I had really frequent buffering today. I'm not technical enough to know why this happens or whether the clubs response above is a correct explanation or not. However, trying to be logical, it can't be the case that so many of us have a poor connection or an outdated browser or a clogged up cache.

Isn't there anyone here who is sufficiently skilled in this subject who can respond to the clubs explanation? Appreciate most of us are only technically "abroad" and so shouldn't really be accessing the stream in the way we do, but clearly Swans TV knows what goes on and so to take good money off us and deliver a poor service is not on.

I have been supportive of the service to date and said so on here, but today was simply not good enough. As others have pointed out, if the club is looking to expand its supporter base the least they can do is get their TV broadcasting right.

Nice to read some discussion on Cullen that isn't just 'He's sh*t' (because he's not).

I don't think he's a 10 as such; to me we'd see the best of him with a striking partner up front (but that doesn't look like happening), but he certainly has quality with the ball at this feet and others around him to play off. He's legitimately played some of the best passes by anyone in the team over the past year, including the best one today.

Once Inoussa and Widell get up to speed he'll have more players in and around him to play off so we should see more involvement from him as the season goes on. He'll almost certainly be replaced as the starter by a new signing though. New Guy, Cullen and Wales is not a bad set of options providing the New Guy is good. I'm assuming Vip is on the way out of the door.

My overall thoughts on todays game:

Vigouroux - 7
Could have scored him higher but other than claiming a few crosses and taking goal kicks he had fuck all to do. Possibly one of the quietest afternoons he will get all season

Key - 8
Lots of energy up and down both flanks, some link up play with Franco and Ronald that we didn't really see last season.

Burgess - 8
Stopped everything that came anywhere near him, seems to be a real magnet for the ball when defending set pieces. Plays like he has been alongside Cabango for years

Cabango - 8
A real feature for both Cabango and Burgess was some of their passes, threaded balls between players which we haven't really seen consistently for years. Also defended superbly

Tymon - 8
Excellent again today, you wouldn't think he played 90 minutes on Tuesday he was full of running the whole game. His crosses weren't at the usual standard but being less than perfect isn't a crime

Galbraith - 9
My MotM for today. He was everywhere, he broke up play, some of his distribution was phenomenal and unlike Boro he played in his natural position and he showed why for me he should be first name on the teamsheet each week.

Franco - 7
A typical bulldog performance from Franco, some neat interplay with Key and Ronald and always looked to break up play and keep the Swans on the front foot

Yalcouye - 7
Started like a house on fire, could have scored and gotten an assist on another day. Faded a bit in the 2nd half, plenty more to see from him as he settles

Ronald - 8
Got a goal, could have scored another. Often criticized for his end product, some of his crosses today were delightful, the only blot on his scorecard is that he should have scored as well in the 1st half.

Eom - 7
I almost gave him a six, but that would be downplaying the industry and effort he put in until he faded in the second half. Not much of an attacking end product but more than played his part keeping the Blades fullbacks honest.

Cullen - 6
Struggled to offer us anything up top, one neat layoff to Widell aside he huffed and he puffed but rarely provided a springboard that we needed for the other players to get up and around him. Still convinced he is not lone striker material

Inoussa - 8
Sharp as a knife when he came on, was heavily involved in the goal and didn't shy away from the midfield battle either.

Widell - 7
Also very sharp and bright when he came on for Yalcouye, unlucky not to score and also played a part in the goal (mostly hearing Ronald's shout and getting out of the way). Rolled up his sleeves and got stuck in along with some great one touch passing which really helped us look dangerous

Fulton - 6
Brought on to help tighten us up at the back, made a couple of tackles but didn't see much else from him.

Wales - N/A
Brought on for 30 seconds or so and didn't get to touch the ball once.

Thoroughly enjoyed my trip back today, worth getting up at 3.23am for! Many thanks to my mate Dave for picking me up at Bristol airport.
Lovely to see the pitch in immaculate condition, well done ground staff. A lot of empty seats around, though.
OK, this was a great, gutsy performance by the Swans, because the Blades are a fast, physical side, not to say a bit dirty.
I thought the back four were excellent to a man. And Tymon's curling crosses across the box are orgasmic.
Franco snd Galbraith were immense, Yalcoule demonstrated his class but will need a couple of games to get match fit. Ronald was outstanding but Cullen and Eom struggled to have an impact.
Widell was lively but needs to bulk up a bit, he lost all the one-on-one physical challenges he went in for. Inoussa was very impressive.
One gripe about Sheehan, I was having kittens in the last fifteen minutes as Sheffield kept recycling the ball and coming back at us. It was clear Cullen was blowing out of his arse and was not getting near our clearances, never mind holding the ball up. I was screaming for a sub, Wales or Viip, but Sheehan seemed oblivious until thirty seconds from the end. Could have cost us two points or all three. Come on, man, take the neccessary decisions!

Its the lack of/insufficient RAM in your PC's for the vast majority of you.

Agree with most of that. A little generous with Yalcouye who was losing possession for fun at times, and held on to the ball too much as well. Showed some good energy and a few flashes of quality though. Interesting to see how he goes - hopefully his development is not at the expense of developing our own players though (Widell and - I assume - Stamenic, for example.)

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon out, there’s something very nice about watching football in shorts and t-shirt. The recent recruitment looks light years apart from what we have seen under the Watson era, and we’re neither complete or fully jelled. Galbraith is going to be class for us and Widell gives an energy beyond what we’ve had recently. Time to fire up the BBQ and enjoy the late afternoon sun.

Maybe a bit harsh on 6 for Cullen, although I agree the point about him not being a long term option for lone striker.
