S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Oxford United | Saturday 6th December 2025 | The EFL Championship | The Swansea.com Stadium

He's shown nothing for me at the moment, he's a major downgrade on O'Brien and Grimes. He's looks the part, big physical defensive midfielder, I have just found him too slow to do anything in or out of possession, but I have not given up on him just yet, hopefully he can prove me wrong.
He’s certainly looks a downgrade on O’Brien and Grimes at the moment. He’s still finding his feet and was rated highly enough for Forest to have a look. Plus he’s had a crap start with his father passing. So I’m with you hoping he can step up in time.

I don’t think people appreciate how much of a loss Grimes was. And even if they do, they certainly won’t admit it after constantly slagging him off for his time here! Signing O’Brien permanently would have been good as well, but I think Galbraith is more than adequate replacement and has a higher ceiling. Having both would have been lovely, but didn’t O’Brien go for something like £7M? That’s a lot of money for us.

Burgess has shocked me with how average he has been at passing and I wonder if because Ipswich played him with two other central defenders if he had more space and time than he does with us. No wonder they were relegated easily with him playing regularly at the top level.
His strength there wasn’t his passing. He’s not terrible and does like a pinged diagonal, but he’s not a cultured CB either. His strength was always in his ability as a stopper.

So gorringe in his programme notes has stated he knew that vitor’s staff would require work permits which would not be straightforward.
Why or why did we proceed ?
This seems the highest level of negligence.

Yalcouye for me is key to us having energy. He doesn't have much physical presence but think we have missed him. Hoping he is at least on bench. Benson I care very little for. Shown nothing.
Benson can beat a man like nobody else in the club. There’s definitely something there.

He’s looking out of his depth so far. Even stuff like going up the Railway with the fans pre-match doesn’t sit well with me. It’s an easy gimmick that will convince a few that he’s ‘one of us’, but he should be all over every aspect of match day and looking to see where can improve. Or at the very least a very visible presence supporting all the match day staff. He’s not paid to be fan’s social liaison.
