I don’t think it’s just Sheehan but, unless he ups his game, it is also Sheehan. Some of these players offer very little, and even less if one is looking for consistently good performances. When Fulton is brought on and I think ‘well that might improve things’ then I’ve either snorted a kilo of marching powder or we are in a hole. I was away and didn’t see the two Sheffield games, but the other 8 I’ve seen have been a tough gig to watch.

Maybe it’s better in the ground. I hope so, for those that make the effort to pay for it live, but I do wonder if I’d have fallen for the Swans as an 11 year old watching this. Maybe there wasn’t much else to do in 1970, but I don’t ever remember being bored, in fact I was engaged fully throughout. We were often rubbish but we went forward whenever we had the ball. Can’t imagine Brian E passing back to Alan W from the edge of the opponents box after playing ten tippy tippy back and fore up a blind alley passes with Vic G.
lol. I was also pleased to see Fulton…

LIttle merit in pointing 👉 fingers.

For example Jay Fulton showed creativity and control in his cameo.

There were half chances at both ends in the final ten minutes and we have beaten Leeds in similar circumstances.

The team has creativity and can play.

Not good enough to beat Southampton but could have.

I did not mind the game. Seen worse this season. Watford were pretty ugly.

We go again at home which will be another challenge.
Sorry but what half chances did we have in the last ten minutes? The two looping headers from Casey? If those are being regarded as half chances it rather emphasises the lack of creativity surely?

Fair enough. Our goalkeeper played very well. Again. He is an excellent keeper in my view.

I didn’t think our centre backs had their best day to be honest. We were lucky not to concede at least two, maybe three. Willingness to fight for the ball? We lost a ton of fifty fifties and were frequently second to the second ball,

I think some are being swayed by the result. It was as bad as we’ve been this year in terms of lack of shape, creativity, ideas, just basic ability to keep the ball. In my opinion.

Some will have different views of course. That’s fine.
Thats the problem Lisa
Most expected a defeat today so see the point gained as a positive...and avoid the obvious which has been staring us in the face all season. All you mention re shape ,creativity, ideas etc are why many of us who have been critical this season not the results.
Our set up,substitutions and tactics are puzzling.....yet many still back Sheehan many just because he isnt Williams.
I dont remember anyone expressing relegation concerns this time last season....in fact at Christmas the talk was of playoffs untill WestBrom gate and the Portsmouth result.

You're so right on the going forward aim of the game, I still remember being entranced by my first winger idol Brian Evans. Always looked to beat his man . Today's stop, sideways and back stuff is so boring. Please give us some pace and decent crossing from the by-line for Vip

I may put the corner and free kick as less than half a chance. Southampton back peddling got me interested. We probably kept shape to stop a counter attack. Fultons drag back on the wing was sublime 😍

Brian would have been ok with this style mind; he’d polish off a pack of 20 B&H during the match, no sweat.

In fairness he locked up a dysfunctional midfield for the last 15 minutes to earn us a point.
And got booked, because he was like a fanny trying to get into position.. saying that though, Stamenic was lucky to be on the pitch, he was on 5 fouls, the officials were incompetent though, that linesman 1st half was taking bribes, and the ref was giving harsh fouls and letting assaults go unpunished

Budget? Income? How the heck do you think we done so well in the Premier league, particularly the first season. It wasn't because we had the biggest budget or income.
Not so much about the first season as how we got up and then stayed up.

There was a coached style of play. There were some ‘under appreciated’ players. This team is, I think, getting there. Not this year though.

But we only went up by the skin of our teeth! You have a short memory.

Fulton actually saved us there. He got booked because he did a “professional foul” on the guy bringing it out from the edge of their pen area, who could have counterattacked and caused us big problems.

Got no short memory , and didn't mention getting up. Exactly that !! A coached style of play , and getting the best out of average players, exactly what this manager isn't currently doing.

Didn't go up by the skin of our teeth either, finished 3rd and won the play offs, thoroughly deserved it.
