S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 1 Leicester City 3 | Att: 16,601 | Saturday 4th Oct | The EFL Championship | The Swansea.com Stadium

I would say the first part is right, didn’t utterly disgrace ourselves at all but still underwhelming in an attacking sense. Leicester certainly up there squad wise but had drawn against a couple of sides in and around our level recently, disappointing we didn’t manage to get something.
Good that Idah has opened his account. That’s going to help his confidence.

This is why I disagreed with the people saying results are more important than performances. To me that game makes me more confident that we can do something this year rather than scraping by in midweek v Blackburn without creating much.

We are now 2 points off 18th but unlike the results crew I am not worried by that placing at all.

Positives

1) Burgess a monster in the box and is a huge set piece threat
2) Sheehan mixed up the starting team today and the set up worked for the most part. Everyone wanted him to be more proactive and he was.
3) Defensively organised and gave nothing away cheaply until the final 15 minutes.
4) The fullacks did well against two very good direct dribblers.

Negatives

1) Lack of good chances created from open play again. Reliance on Burgess from corners is very high right now. When Vipotnik does not get chances, he does not offer much else.
2) The equaliser sucker punched us and we struggled at the end, it happens in games and will happen over a long season so definitely just a nit pick.
3) Yalcouy and Widel were seen as the difference makers in more advanced areas going into the season and I am not sure what their role is now. Yalcouye has started to get less minutes and Widel is nowhere to be seen. Again, just a nit pick, but it is probably something we will need to solve with a transfer in January or the summer.

“2 points ahead of 18th” is a strange way to say “11th”, which is the placing. We are also 3 points behind 5th.

Mid table due to mid table like results. The reason no sensible person is concerned is because 11th is a fine placing for this time of the season, striking distance of playoffs and we regularly pick up results under Sheehan.

Good that Idah has opened his account. That’s going to help his confidence.
Took his pen calmly. I’ve found it difficult to form an opinion on him because whenever I’ve seen him, we’ve not been in control of a game so haven’t given him many opportunities.

I thought EOM was one of the few in white trying to make something happen or do something interesting. Overall it was a decent display against a better (but not anything special) team, but there’s a hall of a way to go before the performance can be called satisfactory. If that were the end product of Sheehan’s ambition for way to play, it’s nowhere near good enough. It’s not the end product though…I hope! With new players and new managers, I think we’re where I would expect overall, but I think everyone would agree we need to see steady improvement between now and Christmas. Not least settling on our best team (with attacking intent) and getting them to learn each other’s play and…shoot.
But we dont have a new manager today was Sheehans 22nd consecutive league game at the helm, he is now in his 3rd season here and also was the "manager/head coach for 4/5 games inbetween Duffs dismissal and Williams appointment...he has been here long enough and workes with the majority of the squad but yes has had a few new arivals most of whom are an uograde from what we had yet today decides to start Cullen ahead of Galbraith or Yalcouye....I guess because he got that goal on Tuesday....
Sheehan is not new to the club so stop.making excuses....just as yes Leicester were a PL team last season so yes they should beat us so lets not focus on the result today many will say.
For me Sheehan is making too many bad decisons re selection and subs....We have seen it time and time again this season

Many have said we dont seem to be playing as we where under Sheehan during that end of season time under him is it becauss as caretaker he had nothing to lose ? Whilst now his head is on the block

We all have our different opinions but the one which matters is our owners I wonder how they might be feeling having invested in players staring with Widdel who is nowhwre to be seen, Bobby Wales and then the addition of Galbraith,Yalcouye,Burgess,Inooussa,Stamenic,Benson and Idah.
After 9 games last season we had won 3 drawn 3 lost 3 scored 8 and conceded 7 and had 12 points.
Tonight after 9 games we have won 3 drawn 3 and lost 3 scored 10 and conceded 10 and have 12 points.
I wonder what they might be thinking.....12 months and money spent yet we are still where we were back then.

He is a nice guy no ego its not about him but unfortuneatley Sheehan is not the right man...Cullen started today bexause he is a favourite and he got a goal off the bench Tuesday but he shouldnt be starting ahead of Galbraith or Yalcouye.

I can’t really argue with any of that Vetch, but I’m still hoping for him to get the jigsaw right and grow as a head coach. As you say it’s different, so he has to learn and improve and has to be given some space to do so. Will, he? I don’t know. I hope so.

Well if he's not, then who is then chum?

Who is this genius manager available on the market right now who's going to do a better job than him, and why?

You keep wanging on he's not the right man, so come on, what's your alternative plan then?

Not having a pop but maybe do some research before throwing mud against the wall. Widell, Wales and many of the new and younger players are being managed and eased into the team for many reason
Sheehan has stated this in pre and post matches. It was also confirmed by the Indy in reports. Galbraith has played alot and needed to rest, he has come up a level from League one. Yalcouye is 19 and still learning. Wales the same. Widell is being carefully handled. Franco was also told he needed to improve. Sheehan doesn't get a free pass, but we have had the hardest first set of games to a season in the championship, got a ton of new players with 0 championship experience. Could Sheehan do better at times sure. He got some subs wrong and sometimes we can be slow. But we are coming off the best record in 5 years of being unbeaten from home, beat a premier league team recently and got a player in VP who has scored in consecutive matches as of recently which has been the first in 15 years. We are also 7 points from 1st place and 3 points from 6th spot. Not to bad.

He looked pissed off and dejected pre match sat in the back of the dugout on his own
He does. Imagine he is frustrated. It's really down to him if he takes this as a way to improve in areas where the backroom staff has identified he needs improving. Piroe was out of the team and training on the beach, and took it as a test and then excelled. VP also.. Yes.. A little longer but still.. Be interesting how this pans out.

I dont have one .....but that diesnt mean I cant point out issues with Sheehan....I m highlighting what I see as issues...just as laat season you highlighted issues in our centrebacks ....one of whom is still here and last week made two great blocks to keep us in the game.
Its all about opinions ...you dont rate Cullen or Fulton yet Sheehan does....
I really hope Sheehan succeeds but from what I keep seeing Im not sure he will...I dont have an alternative .....who did all thoae who wanted Williams out offer ?
I havent stated Sheehan out Im just saying i dint think he gas it tontaje us forward.
Under him we may well finish mid table.
But given the additions to our squad since January is that where we should be?
Will our owners be happy with that?
Todays starting line up was crazy.....or dont you agree? Its not the first time this season this has happened followed by bad timing and wrong substitutions....more so than " inspired" substitutions like against Forest or Blackburn on Tuesday.

No improvement on this time last year.....same number of points same result profile despite a huge investment in squad improvement.
Yes ive seen the stuff about players boufhr for development.....how much did Widdel cost?
Is Cullen better then Yalcoue? How many have been slagging Cullen off?
Why does Galbraith need a rest?

Cullen is never my first choice. But when a player irrelevant if we like him or not comes on and scores in his last match, and adds something to the team at least deserves some reward. In Sheehan thinking. If you watch Galbraith, the one thing he is struggling with his being able to play at a level of fitness in the championship, Tuesday and Saturday in 1 week. He is the best player we have and I rate him highly, but he has come up from a league below and is he not at a level where he can play at a high level in short periods. That's why we have players like Tymon, Cabango, Etc. Franco struggled with this, Widell will and many others. Hence Depth. Yalcouye is 19 mate. Its rare to have players, play at this level all the time unless you are someone who is next level.

You're wasting your time, save the energy for someone who will appreciate it.
