Santos

Can’t understand the hate on this one. All of our centre half’s have been pretty shyte this season tbf, maybe Casey is the best of a bad bunch.

yep, and everyone was saying it's a decent signing as backup in the summer. A freak injury shouldn't change that
I advocated this as a poor signing at the time. Not that we shouldn't have been signing a CB (or multiple CB's) but there was likely many more other options out there that we could have gone for that wouldn't be a total waste of time, plus we must of had the Burgess and Casey irons (and likely other too) in the fire at the time.

Lissah would have been a better 3rd choice than Santos.

For me this transfer was/is poor recruitment.

It makes more sense to sign a back up keeper than a back up defender. We should not have outfield players contracted who we know will never challenge to be first teamers....unless we go down! It will not make or break our squad but it is not the best use of our resources.

Again, it was one of the best windows we've had for as long as I can remember.

The whole squad, apart from 2 or 3, have been performing below par. Hopefully Matos cna remedy that

Where is this coming from? It has been the drumbeat by people since the summer and is still being parroted despite what is occurring in front of our eyes. We have never been perfect in the summer windows so it does not stand out negatively either but this feels very similar to lots of them we have had previously, just with more money spent.

What happened to that French winger bloke we bought? Can't even remember his name, but he must be better than Ronald

It was the first time in an age that we seemed to have had a plan in place knowing what positions we wanted to strengthen. The fact that players from last season seem to have regressed suggests a coaching or tactical issue so like I said hopefully this is something Matos can improve on

How is it any different to other seasons? We always have a plan and know which positions we want to strengthen and usually it is a bad and incoherent plan. I would not be that derogatory about this summer but we focused on strengthening the same midfield position with multiple players who can not all play together. Last summer we signed Vigouroux, Vipotnik, Eom and Franco and this summer feels like a similar level but with much more money spent. Whereas 23/24 summer was a terrible one that set us a long way back.
