Scotch Football.....

Rangers play Scotch football whilst the glorious Swans play Champagne football.

I'm no fan of the Glasgow clubs and their fans belief that they'd do well in the PL

Their current squads wouldn't do well. Give them access to PL TV money and they'd soon have better ones.

Surely that’s the case for any team though? Give the swans premier league tv money and we’d soon have a better side? Both sets of Glasgow fans are deluded as fuck in my opinion.

You do realise that there is currently a four year waiting list for a season ticket at 60,500 Celtic Park, (53,00 season ticket holders) over 200 supporters clubs, in 30 different countries around the World, took 80,000 supporters to Saville in 2003 for the UEFA Cup Final, I could go on...
But aye, surely, that's the case for any team though 🤔

Apples and oranges. Not comparable.

No matter what you think of them, their global support is incredible. They would have investors falling over themselves to invest in those teams, whilst we get hedge fund gamblers.

I’m not doubting they have an unbelievable support and are big clubs, you bump in to Celtic and Rangers fan all over the world. I would argue Newcastle are man for man a better side than both Celtic and Rangers, and have just about the same kind of fan base, yet they’ve not won anything for decades. My argument is, you could put Celtic and Rangers in the prem, the tv money and whatever else, and neither would even challenge top 4.

I'm not so sure, you watch Newcastle fly next season (as long as thier backers keep dipping in)

No doubt they will, they’ve made some fantastic signings tbf, they’ll be up there in the next 2 years or so 100%.

Excellent point, well made.

Bullies should always be called out. Such the pity they are still tolerated and encouraged in some places.

So what's the difference? Celtic and Rangers are at least on a par size wise with the Geordies as clubs.

Newcastle haven’t competed for anything for years, what makes people think Celtic and Rangers would be any different?

Surely the clear difference between the Old Firm clubs and Newcastle is that the Geordies are now owned by the Saudi royal family who will pump money in a la Man City and their Arab owners?

Give any club in the PL that kind of investment and you'd expect them to be challenging for the title soon enough. Unless they hire Man United's recruitment experts of course.

If you want to say the Old Firm clubs are comparable in size to Newcastle pre-takeover, then that sounds about right except for the greater support from abroad the Glasgow clubs get.

Could they compete long term in the Premier League? WIth their support base then yes they could.

However their arrogance to believe they should just be able to be parachuted into the top two divisions is incredible to watch. If they want to be in the English league structure then apply to join and start at the bottom end of the ladder- somewhere around the North West counties league division five maybe.

The only thing that surprises me is why they get such big crowds for league games every week when around 30 of every 38 turn into a procession

I thought Rangers might have done that when they were penalised for their finances a few years back. They'd be in the Premier League now.
