17 minutes of my life that I'll never get back - and still none the wiser other than the game is on Wednesday!

Wonder why they bother save a journalist is making a living off after asking predictable and mundane questions.

STEVE COOPER | WE'RE FACING ONE OF THE STRONGEST SQUADS IN THE LEAGUE

Source: Swansea Official Site

Steve Cooper insists Swansea City’s record of two wins from two games against Nottingham Forest will have no bearing on the outcome of Wednesday’s Championship meeting.

The Swans host the Reds at the Liberty Stadium looking to continue a two-month unbeaten run in league action which has them firmly among the automatic promotion contenders.

A brave Connor Roberts’ header saw Swansea take all three points on the reverse fixture, while Cooper’s side were also 5-1 winners when the teams met in the FA Cup in January.

But the head coach is mindful that Forest are on a good run of form of their own, losing just one of their last 11 Championship fixtures.

And Cooper believes the league position of the East Midlands club belies the talent in their squad.

“I have spoken to the players about. We have faced them in the league and the cup, but this is a completely different game,” he said.

“They are a very strong squad, and they have been in the two games we have played.

“They have been in good form, in terms of results and performances.

“So, I think the two previous games will have no bearing on this one.

“Regardless of league position, and things like that, we are coming up against one of the strongest squads in the league and that’s how we will be approaching it.

“We treat every opponent with the same respect, they are experienced with massive strength in depth.

“They have an experienced manager and coaching staff. It’s a really tough game and we have to be ready for it.”

The consensus on this Nottingham Forest fans forum is that they'd be ecstatic with a 0-0 draw. They've now given up discussing the match because it's too depressing and are instead nattering on about snooker.

We have to rest all of our players at some point, so surely this is the time to give Woodman the night off and maybe 2 or 3 others? I'd certainly not start with some of the older ones, e.g. Naughton, Ayew.

I was just thinking that Chris Hughton looks like Gus Fring and lo and behold, Fring minus half his face is one of the posters' avatar.

Always nice to see FEC Florist fans describing a game against us as a free hit. :D

TALKING TACTICS | SWANSEA CITY V NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Football stats experts WhoScored.com take a closer look at the form of Ryan Bennett, and explain why he can be a key figure in Swansea City's clash with Nottingham Forest.

Barnsley did Swansea a huge favour on Sunday as the Tykes secured a 2-0 win at Brentford to end the Bees' 21-match unbeaten run. In the process, Swansea remained four points behind Brentford, but with two games in hand after their meeting with Sheffield Wednesday was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

It means that a week will have passed since Swansea's FA Cup defeat at the hands of Manchester City, giving the Swans extra time to prepare for the midweek welcome of Nottingham Forest.

It's the second time this year that Forest will have travelled to the Liberty Stadium, and Swans supporters are of course hoping for a repeat of the 5-1 trouncing of Chris Hughton's side last month.

Since that heavy defeat, though, Forest have been much-improved and come into the clash on a four-game unbeaten run, winning two in that time, and have won their last three away league matches as the team begins to click under former Brighton and Newcastle boss Hughton.

Indeed, had the season started at the turn of the year, Forest would sit third in the table having picked up 14 points from seven games in 2021. So, while they are currently 16th in the overall standings, they are certainly not to be underestimated.

That being said, 25 league goals scored is among the lowest in the Championship this season, with Forest developing a statistically calculated WhoScored.com weakness of 'finishing scoring chances' as a result of their profligacy in 2020/21.

It just so happens they will be facing the best defence in the Championship. Swansea have conceded fewer goals (15) than any other team in England's second tier this term, and the arrival of Ryan Bennett from Wolves in October has played a part in that solidity.

Indeed, the 30-year-old has garnered a WhoScored rating of 7.11 in the Championship this season, that's the fourth best of all Swansea players this season, to reinforce his positive impact in Steve Cooper's side.

Considering Forest have scored in each of their last six away league matches, Bennett will need to be on top form once more in order to ensure Wednesday's visitors have little success in the final third.

Given Bennett is making more interceptions per 90 minutes (2.1) than any other Swansea player, the experienced centre-back boasts the positional awarness to try and ensure Hughton's side struggle to pry open this staunch Swans backline.

It's imperative Bennett and the Swansea defence do all they can to keep the ball from reaching striker Glenn Murray, who'll be aiming to build upon his superb full Forest debut earlier this month. The experienced striker bagged a brace on his first start for Hughton's side in a 3-0 win at Wycombe, earning the WhoScored.com man of the match with a rating of 9.10.

Forest may have struggled in front of goal over the course of the season, but the arrival of Murray means Hughton is able to call upon a prolific and reliable frontman who is experienced at this level, and has scored four times in six league meetings with the Swans.

However, in Bennett, Cooper has a Premier League calibre centre-back to call upon as Swansea look to continue their fine form.

The latest from the Nottingham Forest dressing room ahead of Wednesday night's trip to face Swansea City.

Chris Hughton said he must strike the balance between making changes to his side and keeping the consistency as The Reds go into a busy run of fixtures.

After the draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, Forest head to south Wales on Wednesday night to face Swansea and Hughton knows that he has to get the right balance in order to keep his team fresh and keep the momentum going.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday, he said: "After the run we have been on, it has been good to go through, since the turn of the year, the odd week where there has been no midweek game. It is a different dynamic in those weeks that you need, and for some reason there are more Premier League games in midweek which is a turnaround.

"We will see, it is always a fairly big judgement call on getting the balance between stability, being in a decent place and picking up good results, and changing it or tweaking the formation. It is always a difficult one, I suppose the fact that the game is Wednesday is a plus and a minus. We get that extra day but then we have one less going into next Saturday’s game."

Ryan Yates could be in contention for The Reds having returned to training on Monday, but Hughton admitted that Wednesday's game at the Liberty Stadium could be a touch too soon with a return on the weekend more likely.

Samba Sow, Sammy Ameobi, Harry Arter and Scott McKenna all remain sidelined through injury.

This is must win for me if a top 2 is the aim. Watford now putting a run together with 2 good teams to chase down.
