JAKE BIDWELL | LATE WIN SHOWS WHERE WE'VE PROGRESSED
Source: Swansea Official Site
Jake Bidwell believes Swansea City’s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest was indicative of a key area where Steve Cooper’s side have progressed this season.
The Swans made it three wins from three against the Reds this term as Connor Roberts popped up with a late header from a Bidwell cross to seal victory at the Liberty Stadium.
The win moved them back up to third in the Championship table, just one point behind second-placed Brentford with two games in hand.
The hosts were not able to find the fluency they wanted in their game, but battled to find the late breakthrough.
And Bidwell pointed to how it had been the Swans on the receiving end when Forest won in SA1 last term, as a sign of their development.
“You look back to the exact comparison of last year. In a tight game, we lost 1-0 to Forest, so it's a sign of how far we've come as a group,” said Bidwell, who took his assist tally for the season to eight as he racked up his third in his last three league appearances.
“It maybe wasn't our best performance, but I didn't think we deserved to lose. That resilience that we've grown this year just shows what can happen if you stay in games, keep a clean sheet, put your bodies on the line when you need to.
“I don't think they had too many clear-cut chances. We weren't at our best, but that resilience will keep you in games and, thankfully, we managed to nick one at the end.
“People are chipping in everywhere. If we stay in games, we're always in with a chance. We weren't as free-flowing as we wanted to be, but we still showed some good resilient qualities at times.
“It's important to pick up points when you're not at your best. I don't think we deserved to lose the game but if you can gain two points when we weren't as free-flowing as we want to be, it's really important.”
