That game could have, and almost was, an absolute banana skin. Credit to Hughton, excellent organisation, but these are the kind of games we'd have probably lost last season. Onwards etc..

We did. We lost that exact game last season, with a Grabban breakaway. This year he made a horses arse of it when 3 against 1 from a corner and Connor popped up to have his say. If we'd lost, or even drawn serving up that kind of crap, we'd have all been right to pile in. It was absolutely awful. A win, however, excuses any performance and so well done everyone. As you say, banana skin and almighty crash into the buffers avoided. Train rolls on.

thank you. A good post as ever.

Agreed. There is a rush by some to criticise us for a below par performance but we have to give credit to Forest.
They sat back and made us play our football in front of them and then hit us on the break when a pass went astray.
Hughton is slowly turning things round there. Someone said few of our team came out with any credit, I would say all of them did. No one hid and we stuck manfully to the task.
This league does not lie. Onwards and upwards.

Knockaert seemed very friendly with Cooper at the end going up hugging him, perhaps he's a Swans fan.

we have just hit 2 points per game for the first time since our 4th game of the season

that is the standard for guaranteed auto promotion in any season ever (at least i think it has been)

12 wins and 6 defeats would probly be enough now but i don't see where the 6 defeats are going to come from since we concede an average of zero goals a game ....

quite glad we don't have barnslay again ... they make me nervous

edit : just read that back and wish i had never said it .... sort of comment that will end up biting back ...

Brentford fans not happy at all... I’ve joined the long list of banned Swansea fans for pointing the truth out to them. They really don’t like it.

Well, you certainly made an impression: "Magic_Michu comes on here has a bit of a troll and goes back to Planet Swans to get w***ed off by the other weirdos on that board. Leave the oxygen thief to his silly games." :D

I'm glad that you said it, because there's nothing wrong with being ambitious. We may succeed or we may crash and burn, but at least we are having a go. By the way, I've stolen your idea and started a new thread called "The 90 point Countdown" so any brickbats for arrogance will be directed at me rather than you. :)

Chris Hughton: An undeserved defeat

Source: Nottingham Forest Official Site

Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton believed his side's performance at Swansea City this evening deserved much more than the 1-0 defeat it delivered.

The Reds deserved at least a point from their trip to the Liberty Stadium given the strength of their performance and Hughton was left disappointed that they will make the long journey back from South Wales with nothing to show for their efforts.

He said: "I thought the result was cruel on us. I thought we were the better side for the majority of the game but Swansea have showed why they are where they are because they weathered our storm and then grabbed a late goal. They are a side who don't concede many goals, particularly here, and they are where they are because of the quality they've got but I thought we were far better than we were in the home game against them earlier in the season.

"In the last 15 minutes it looked like Swansea were happy with the draw and we had plenty of chances at the end and we have to show more composure in those areas. We have individuals who can take those chances but we have played two top teams in the last two games so that's why it has been more difficult for us. Swansea are a good defensive side who recover well and with Lewis's chance they had bodies back quickly to make sure they didn't concede.

"I'm not in the position right now to talk about individual players and what they could have done to stop the goal. We showed a fantastic level of concentration for most of the game but we needed to be more clinical at the other end of the pitch. The last two performances show we are closer to competing with teams at the top of the league but we have still only come away with one point.

"Swansea are a fine example of a team that can grind out results even when they don't play well and we need to get to that. I'm hugely disappointed tonight because the performance deserved to get all three points and we have nothing. I can certainly feel progress from the performances but ultimately we need to get results to make ourselves more comfortable in the league table."

None of them are brave enough to actually engage in a debate or discussion though and you won't see any of them coming over here because of that fact.

They don't like failing to win games and are completely blind to the shortcomings in their team.

STEVE COOPER | WE WEREN'T AT OUR BEST, BUT WE'RE DELIGHTED WITH THE WIN

Source: Swansea Official Site

Steve Cooper acknowledged Swansea City were not at their best against Nottingham Forest, but was delighted to see his side snatch a late winner at the Liberty Stadium.

Connor Roberts popped up with a powerful header in the closing stages to seal a 1-0 win; his goal almost a carbon copy of his winner in the return fixture at the City Ground earlier in the campaign.

It came at the end of a night where the hosts were not at their fluent best, but were able to ground out an important three points in the promotion battle.

And Cooper was pleased to see his team come out on top after a tough evening.

“It wasn’t a great game, there was not much between the teams in terms of chances,” he said.

“There were no real glaring misses, and I don’t remember Freddie making too many difficult saves.

“I am not going to sit here and say we were brilliant tonight, because there were parts of the game where we weren’t, particularly with the ball.

“We struggled to get our positioning right and play with the right rhythm and intensity.

“In the first half I really did not like our lack of intensity to our game, both with and without the ball.

“I just thought the game was heading towards a 0-0 draw really. Forest are a good team in good form, with good experience and talented players.

“We felt it was heading that way, we made some offensive changes in the second half to get more width and we hoped things would turn.

“It didn’t really, but we created a good moment going forward to get the win.

“We are delighted to win but we know we will have to be better in our next game.”

Bang on. It's all about results now. There's a new found resilience which we deserve credit for

DEJA VU FOR MATCHWINNER CONNOR ROBERTS

Source: Swansea Official Site

It proved a case of déjà vu for Connor Roberts as his late header proved the difference against Nottingham Forest.

Roberts powered home a thunderous header in the 87th minute to earn the Swans victory at the Liberty.

It proved a close encounter in SA1, with not much between the sides before the Wales international climbed above Yuri Ribeiro and headed home his third goal of the season.

It proved the same outcome as in the league meeting between the sides back in November, with Roberts’ header earning the Swans another away win on that occasion at the City Ground.

And the 25-year-old was delighted to help move the Swans to within a point of second-placed Brentford, with two games in hand.

“It’s obviously very pleasing for me to chip in with another goal and play my part in the win,” said Roberts.

“It was like a carbon copy of my goal at the City Ground earlier in the season – that takes me up to three this season, and that’s something I’m keen to improve on.

Jake Bidwell’s cross proved a key part in the goal, with the former QPR man taking his tally of assists to eight for the campaign.

And Roberts, who lives next door to Bidwell, had plenty of praise for his fellow wing-back.

“It was like Ned Flanders crossing for Homer Simpson to score the winner,” joked Roberts.

“Bidders is great and we get along really well, so I’ll be thanking him for a while for his assist.

“He’s got a quality left foot and we know that he’ll put the ball into the right area, so it’s up to the rest of us to get onto the end of it.

“He’s got another assist, I’ve got another goal and we’ve got three points, so it’s a perfect outcome!”

“But, at the end of the day, we’ve won and picked up another clean sheet so I’m happy whoever scores.”
