Season 23/24 | The Official Match Thread| Hull City vs Swansea City | The EFL Championship

For a team on their arse confidence wise that is a massive win and a massive psychological boost to hold on at the end.
Not at all - the confidence has been high since LW walked through the door

And growing, exponentially - despite the bumps and bruises.

Excellent, calm assured leadership from LW and El Capitan Grimesy - fact.

Hull had nothing today. Home game against a team which has shipped goals all season and they couldn’t get close to us. So much learned today about formation, mind set, tactics. Onwards and upwards.

Fantastic result and thoroughly deserved, the pace we possess will concern even the best in this division, equally impressive today was our press.
Rushworth didn't have to make a save against one of the in form sides in this division.

Great result. Transfer window looking like it was a good 'un after all and the Patersonaissance continues - hooray!

Luvs that - Patersonaissance - add it it the dictionary already

MOTM, his Yernited heritage, pedigree and class shone brightly yet again.

Pato, Grimes Unleashed

My player ratings:

Rushworth 7 - Hardly anything to do all game, he did have a howler but Wood was on hand to bail him out
Tymon 8 - Excellent energy up and down the pitch. Defended well, attacked well and got an assist
Wood 9 - His best game for months, cut out the errors from his game and saved a certain goal
Cabango 8 - Strong in the air and marshalled the Hull attackers well all game
Naughton 7 - Injury is a shame, was developing a great connection with Ronald
Fulton 7 - His best game for a while operating as the midfield anchor
Grimes 7 - Deployed further forward his distribution was more evident, brought out a good save too
Paterson 8 - Not that involved on the ball but covered an insane amount of ground pressing the Hull defenders
Placheta 8 - Quiet at the start but grew into the game. Disappointed to come off but probably on advice of sports scientists due to lack of game time to avoid risking injury
Ronald 9 (MotM) - His quality and strength on the ball, his willingness to run and challenge defensively made him head and shoulders the best player on the pitch
Cullen 8 - Brought players into the game, battled well and took his chance superbly. Justified his start

Humphries 7 - Helped see out the game after replacing Naughton
Allen 7 - Battled well
Yates 7 - His best shift for months, maybe inspired by the effort of those around him
Cooper 7 - Did very well retaining possession to see out the game
Patino 7 - As Cooper above, did his part seeing out the game

Williams 9 - Selection and tactics spot on. Substitutions worked out, can be delighted with the team performance and his first W since joining us

I hope so, Mon. I'd kill for a point. Just to shut up my Hull supporting mate who I'm staying with tonight and tommorrow. And we've got the feckin rugby to come tonight too...
Way, way Ahead of expectations so far, fella.....🤞

A bit of breathing space away from the bottom 3 & starting to play some really good stuff. What's not to like 😊

That has made such a difference. Free shot against the Yorkshire Puddings now

This was a great performance today, we outplayed and outthought them all over the field. We defended like lions, Bango and Woods were superb.
And no feckin short passes from the keeper to players running towards their own goal under pressure. Rushie just put his laces through it every time and sent it back upfield. Brilliant.

Wood was excellent. Been a while since we've been able to say that.
