Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Cardiff City 3 Swansea City 0 | The EFL Championship

Reality needs to come into the scenario also.

We don't have the quality and depth to push on.
If the board gets a centre half, midfielder and winger in at least between now and the windows close.....we don't push on a bit then I might start agreeing that it's time he definitely needs to move on.

The reality is no matter what squad he has at his disposal he won't achieve anything.

The football served up on a consistent basis over the last 12 months is nowhere near the standard required.

You can blindly defend the bloke as much as you want. The reality is he is not good enough and never will be.

We have a very poor squad but thats not solely down to Luke.
For me he sees the season out and we take stock in the summer.
And just for the record I’m far from happy. 🤬
No real fan is happy, too much rubbish is going on or has gone on in recent seasons to even get to a content level with this club.

This window could help create a better atmosphere for a start but it seems to be new board but same old.....fans have been fed up because our lack of recruitment and this result today has just put a massive cherry on things and confidence is low.

Coleman needs to deliver on his promises or we will go into the remainder of the season with a small squad that will tire and will see fans frustrations increase.

It's funny because many were saying Cardiff's squad was terrible weeks ago.

None of them would get in our squad it was said etc...

But we beat them easily at the end of last season with squads not too dissimilar to what is there now.

This is the problem with certain people. When we lose, it's the lack of quality. But when we win the quality is just discovered out of nowhere, is it?
They wouldn't thiugh apart from
Robinson and Robertson

Sorry but there's a reason they are where they are with their recent record

We handed everything to them today on a simple fucking platter rather than turn the screw and send rhem spiralling to league one which is where they should be really after the last few years

That was appalling. Absolutely appalling. I’m angry to watch it.

But the issues we have are not going to be solved by simply changing the manager. What we saw today was the inevitable result of 6 or 7 years of an absolutely toxic ownership.

For years now we have sold absolutely everyone who is worth more than a few quid, we’ve underinvested in replacements, we’ve attempted to introduce US stats analysis into a game where it doesn’t work, we’ve underinvested in youth, we’ve cocked up contract renewals, we’ve attempted to play chicken over transfer negotiations and lost every single time, we’ve had people running the club that don’t understand the first thing about the game, we’ve got rid of those few who did understand what was needed because people at the top thought they knew better, and we’ve pretended that inheriting money from family somehow makes average minds top business talent.

We do not have a single player in this squad who is capable of beating anyone one on one. We do not have a single player in the squad with any pace, we do not have a single player in the squad who can pick out the creative pass over the mundane. And today we hardly had a player in the squad who gave a crap. Allen, Cabango, possibly Darling looked like they cared, the others not so much.

I cannot believe how many posters think we’ve a good squad. It is absolutely woeful. We have a keeper, two centre backs, two midfielders that are even reasonable level championship standard, that’s it. It would need a very special manager to make us anything other than not very good.
Williams is not that. But I can’t think of who we could bring in that would be so special that they could make this collection of mediocrity look anything other than the sum of their limited parts.

We need an absolute overhaul of everything. But unless money is forthcoming we cannot do that.

Special mention btw to the Trust, who despite multiple warnings, decided mediocrity and the collapse of everything that was achieved previously was a price worth paying for a comfy seat and a pat on their heads.
Agree with a lot of what you said, Piroe , Ntcham , Obafemi , and dare i say Paterson (don't like him) would all walk into this team, but why are we so slow in the build up to attack. The players first instinct when they receive the ball, play backwards or sideways, at a snails pace, the 2nd goal was given away because of this , and how many more this season. When we attack, we are so slow that the opposition have regrouped and got 10 men behind the ball. Why take 100 passes at a snails pace to get to the opposition goal when 30 is plenty. That is all down to the manager and his obsession with stats. Think we had nearly 70 per cent of the ball today , and offered nothing , absolute zero.

There was more than enough quality in that team to win the game easily today. The problem was the fella and his mates stood in the dugout.

But that gets based on one game rather than looking at the league table!

The league table never lies.

But it's a lot of one games, especially recently, where our team has been nowhere near.

So our squad is midtable then? Because others would make us believe it should be battling for relegation?

Plus, we could still be dragged into the relegation mix, another reason the new ambitious owners need to take into account regarding squad strengthening this window...

There really wasn’t. We have almost no quality in the team.

I’m not saying someone else couldn’t do better, Williams is mediocre and I couldn’t care less if he goes but our squad is woeful.

Keeper, centre backs, Franco and Grimes are average championship quality. Cullen maybe gets in bench in average championship team, full backs, wingers and Vipotnik are nowhere near championship level. Nowhere near.
No creativity, no pace, just nothing.

Even a weak squad can look organised, interested, as if it's playing to a plan even if the quality isn't ultimately there. It needs a coach capable of doing that though, and we don't have one.

For all people want to blame ownership, it was Luke Williams who sent that team out there today, and against Hull, and against Portsmouth. He doesn't want to be here any more and the players know it.
