Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Cardiff City 3 Swansea City 0 | The EFL Championship

The more I think about it the more fucking angry I am

Those lot were fucking toxic, rock bottom confidence wise, 1 win in 15, utterly fucking hopeless and we have them two fucking goals straight after half time

We weren't great first half by any measure but were not theatened in the slightest

We've now gone and kept our rivals in this league because of our fucking cowardice

I hope some of our lot meet those cunts at the stadium and give them an ear ful

Utterly unacceptable from everyone today. Grimes is a decent player on his day but he's an absolute disgrace that he's a captain

That was appalling. Absolutely appalling. I’m angry to watch it.

But the issues we have are not going to be solved by simply changing the manager. What we saw today was the inevitable result of 6 or 7 years of an absolutely toxic ownership.

For years now we have sold absolutely everyone who is worth more than a few quid, we’ve underinvested in replacements, we’ve attempted to introduce US stats analysis into a game where it doesn’t work, we’ve underinvested in youth, we’ve cocked up contract renewals, we’ve attempted to play chicken over transfer negotiations and lost every single time, we’ve had people running the club that don’t understand the first thing about the game, we’ve got rid of those few who did understand what was needed because people at the top thought they knew better, and we’ve pretended that inheriting money from family somehow makes average minds top business talent.

We do not have a single player in this squad who is capable of beating anyone one on one. We do not have a single player in the squad with any pace, we do not have a single player in the squad who can pick out the creative pass over the mundane. And today we hardly had a player in the squad who gave a crap. Allen, Cabango, possibly Darling looked like they cared, the others not so much.

I cannot believe how many posters think we’ve a good squad. It is absolutely woeful. We have a keeper, two centre backs, two midfielders that are even reasonable level championship standard, that’s it. It would need a very special manager to make us anything other than not very good.
Williams is not that. But I can’t think of who we could bring in that would be so special that they could make this collection of mediocrity look anything other than the sum of their limited parts.

We need an absolute overhaul of everything. But unless money is forthcoming we cannot do that.

Special mention btw to the Trust, who despite multiple warnings, decided mediocrity and the collapse of everything that was achieved previously was a price worth paying for a comfy seat and a pat on their heads.

Franco is pretty gash as well in all honesty…what does he do really
He’s good compared to what we had. I can’t remember the last time we had a real terrier in the middle breaking up so much play. But he’s not the complete player. And he often seems to be the wrong side of his man. If he was the complete player he wouldn’t be here though. I still think he’s a rare successful signing for us.

Let’s face it, we could have better players in this team and they’d still look poor. We’re just not very good on the ball (beyond the half way line).

That was not great.

Things are just looking a bit flat at the moment, having a thin squad and players involved who are not fully fit doesn't help.

Williams needs to pick this lot up and the board needs to pick some players up ASAP to freshen things up.

Things are certainly not good at present and it can't be argued with.

No hiding from this one. We need to get on with the important things now and freshen up what looks like a small and tired squad.
I notice you've not said I've bad thing against the manager again. You are his wife, you must be.

Absolutely, a sensible post that highlights the issues rather than a quick fix.

I get people are angry and doing so will post off the cuff but once statements are made then people will stand firm with it.

The squad is bang average and a thin one at that, I see it as a squad that would sit mid table to 18th.....we currently sit 13th which for me is doing a decent job and I expect days like today now and again.

Replacing a manager doesn't mean a quick fix just starting the process all over again and revisiting the manager out months down the line again.

Building a foundation isn't about chopping and changing things and basing it on unrealistic views.

But there doesn't seem to be any pattern in what we do or are trying to do

Like with potter, we could see what he wanted to do and where we could have gone

Aimless passing across the back is not good enough and is nothing to do with your plsyers

If we create 100 chances a game and miss 100 then yes you blame players, but we are not playin football at all

The passing across the back is dreadful. But it’s partly because there is absolutely no movement in front. The players are hiding and / or don’t have the ability to find space.

Potter had a squad that was vastly better than this one. Plus he was an exceptional manager. Which Williams is not. Which brings me back to the management of the club. Letting people like Potter go.
