Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Millwall 1 Swansea City 0 | Att: 17,239 (Jacks 1,354) | 26th April 2025 | The EFL Championship

I’m looking forward to hearing from our favourite cameraman. I’m sure he will log on shortly. He has the best view out of all of us.

Vigouroux made 39 passes, 34 of which were long balls. Only 5 of which found a Swansea player. Of the 5 short passes, 4 were completed. Says it all really. Against a team of giants, with Cullen up front that is a totally brain dead tactic. I don't mind taking a horses for courses approach, up to a point. However, the irony here is that a horses for courses approach was to keep the ball down and run rings around the opposition. Same story against Derby.

Yes, there's hell of a lot of positive stuff to offset those games, but it does suggest to me that the Sheehan Way may be as dogmatically long ball - at least from the keeper - as Martin was obsessively about passing it out from the back.
A lot of the issues which led to the long ball was no option - I watched Delcroix a number of times just watching when he should have dropped/moved to give the options. It wasn't just Delcroix but he was most guilty. Why we set out as we did against a team of giants who blowdy knows.

The loss of Darling from the lineup hurt almost as much as playing Cullen and Fulton

He offers a streetwiseness that none of our other defenders do, on top of that for a team of giants they weren't half dodgy looking at defending set pieces. Losing out on his aerial threat was a huge loss

Vip Almost could be his name. Almost on the end of crosses, almost reaches set pieces, almost finds the target, almost gets a shot off

He is our best number 9 by some distance though. And I thought Gyokeres was crap when he was with us, so I’ve not given up on the lad yet. There’s a hint of something there.
You're right
We now need a proper manager to coax the best out of our VIP and our front third

We deserved a point out of that game, but can’t argue too much as we didn’t look like scoring despite creating some excellent chances. VP did himself no favors when he came on. Cooper trying an overhead kick when he could have just laid the ball off - come on son, have some self awareness.

And Bianchini has had way too many offisides due to being lazy and not keeping up with the last line that he can fuxk off back to France and play for laughs over there instead.

Plenty of positives to take from the 2nd half though. Overall, more good evidence for where we need to strengthen in the summer.
Poor assessment, by your standards.

Bianchini needs a proper run in his favored position - wide left cutting in.

Sheezy has so much to learn, and today shone the lights brightly on his glass ceiling

I’ve long been an advocate for Bianchini to get a run at his favoured position, but he does get caught offside cheaply a lot and it can be a killer when margins are so tight in games. Maybe he’d be sharper with more game time, but he doesn’t help himself sometimes.

Is his ceiling an average of just under 2 points a game in near enough half a season?

It is obvious that La Jolla is a troll.

BTW, La Jolla is a coastal suburb of San Diego and is notorious for having the highest density of pretentious muppets in the San Diego area. We are talking about San Diego, so that's a high bar.

You can see Sheehan's dilemma with Vip and Cullen

One presses well and links play when deep but very limited as a lone striker

The other doesn't press but can hold the ball up and finishes better

Neither have pace or can dominate a CB

So what can he do...

I’m not convinced that VIP finishes better than Cullen. It’s a low bar admittedly and neither clears it.
VIP is surprisingly poor technically. Cullen is too but there the similarities end. They are very different players who bring completely different things to the table so it’s weird that they’re competing for the same position in the team.

I don't pay any attention to his posts anymore tbh, I just scroll on by. Now, to him, the fact that I've said that means conclusively that I know absolutely nothing about football 🤣🤣🤣

I'll leave this here.
