Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Preston North End 0 Swansea City 0 | Att: 12,838 | The EFL Championship

A lot of work to do, another team with more composure or a good striker would have seen us lose last night.
Still papering over cracks but that's because we have an average team and poor squad. Not that it bothers me but we still had a central midfielder out wide and a winger coming on as striker.

Special mention to Cabango, only 24 and was questioning the ref....nice to see a captain sticking up for his team.

5 more points needed for safety(I think 😬)

Not sure what Delcroix did to get dropped, but given Darling's refusal to sign a new deal he can consider himself unlucky to be on the bench IMO.

Very decent point on the road, and another clean sheet which is great, but 1 shot on target all night. It must have been a long night for the hardy souls that travelled.

As decent as Tymon is going forward, he gives me the fear when defending.
Is Tymon like R Manning, and he Just cant get back? Second half I see first LOB then Eom busting to chase back in the hole where Tymon should be. After his big defensive performance against BR, it needs AS to look at this

Exactly, Delcroix looked a better player when starting in Darling's place and that should be all that is taken into consideration given that they are both essentially in the same situation with us contract wise.

Thinking back, we should have been one up very early on when a sloppy pass from one of theirs in their own area was pounced on by Cullen, but instead of shooting with Woodman quickly advancing on him, he chose to slip it sideways to Vip but the ball was scrambled away. He should have had a go himself, lifting it over the keeper.

Cullen first touch let him.down, ball run away from him and only option was to square it past Woodman

Decent point all considered.
Just feel more relaxed watching us knowing that Luke isn't there.
Bit weird, but he was fckn useless.

We struggled in midfield with both LOB and Franco being out muscled especially in the air. MPH won a few aerial duels in the first half and when he went off and Eom come on we struggled further defensively.

Not a fan of Fulton but he did add some height and physicality in the last 20 mins. Our passing game was impacted by the pitch although there was a series of misplaced passes and long hoofed for us to chase.

Thought Cabango put himself about well and Tymon going forward...not sure what Key is doing most of the time especially dribbling out in our own half as the last man

Wasn't a game that will stay long in the memory and IMO was very poor for long periods. Not surprised that the possession stats came out at close to 50/50 as both teams seemed intent on passing to their own players 50% of the time and to their opponents for 50% of the time which made the game very scrappy. Both sides ended with just less than 70% pass completion which is very poor for this division. Even Cardiff and Plymouth had nearly 80% last night FFS. We'll be tested much more on Saturday but hopefully Boro wont be kicking us up in the air quite as much.

Darling looks like he is going through the motions. Vig needs to concentrate more on his distribution. I'll take a point, based on their home record, but I was expecting a better performance from us since we had longer time to prepare. Point in the bank. At least.
Agree on Darling. The amount of times he is out of position like last night, when the opposition is in on goal is alarming. We were lucky they didn’t take the blatant chances they had.
At the other end of the pitch Vipotnik is never in a position to miss a blatant chance.
Let’s not beat around the bush, he’s useless.
For a big man he has no physical presence.
can someone tell me if he’s had a yellow card since he’s been here?
Our new DOF is going to have his hands full trying to sort out our attacking options, because at this moment we haven’t got one.

You're right - our little hobbitses were not just rag-dolled, but out-maneuvered by the more athletic, dynamic oppo. We had zero control of the midfield - which is anathema to a proper Swans team.

We are so lacking a Joey to regain control, command and accurate passing :
PASS Completion - we were woeful, even worse than cardiff vs burnley, ffs.
We are rapidly diluting our unique edge.

I don’t disagree at all about controlling the midfield…but our unique edge that hasn’t been successful since 2013 as other clubs have leapfrogged us in droves with their superior unique edges?

Our unique edge was in glorious display vs QPR -
- quick, sharp, accurate triangles - up and down the pitch
- cohesion and masterful control from the pivot
- clever movement into pockets - attack and defense
- collective, pack mentality
- stoic defense
- innovative management (The Quorum)

We still have it in our locker, it's still in our dna - and Joey can reignite and lead the way.........the Swanseway
