Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Preston North End 0 Swansea City 0 | Att: 12,838 | The EFL Championship

Back on topic.....

By all accounts Joey has stepped up. He needs to make his mark and fill Grimes' massive boots - we need to see a marked improvement in our midfield cohesion and control. He now is the very last remaining shred of our unique, much heralded identity.

In Joey we must trust.....
😉 FIRST

We so need this to happen - Swans so isn't a scurrying, scrambling brand like we have been since Grimes moved onwards and upwards. Joey to play the anchor and let Franco and LOB be the dynamos

While it would be great for Allen to be in contention for the game, right now his only role is surely as a squad player to come on when the legs start getting heavy for O'Brien and Franco.

For me 100% unless injuries say otherwise it should be an unchanged starting XI

C'mon baka, you're better than that - did you not see how very disjointed, disconnected and DISCOMBOBULATED we were without the Grimes-esque control, command and composure in midfield ?

Joey fills that space almost as well as Grimes (well, c.65%, nowadays).

In Joey we tryst, to retain our last remaining shred of our unique identity and competitive edge.

Allen isn't a CB..

Some days I am not sure if LaJollaJack is a genuine troll or not but I tend to give the benefit of the doubt so here goes.

No I saw a very dynamic and aggressive midfield without Grimes that would turn over possession and attack quickly and with purpose which in turn allowed the forward players to actually play to their talents and strengths and actually attack.

I do not look down on Joe and what he offers, but besides just returning from yet another injury his age also goes against him and he just cannot maintain the tempo and intensity that LOB and Franco showed against Blackburn.

What he is however is a significant upgrade on Fulton and I would hope that his inclusion would see Fulton drop out of the bench altogether.

Oh and while I might trust Joey, no part of me wants a tryst with him

Franco-O'Brien-Cullen were outstanding as were they all in beating Blackburn comfortably. Having all but outplayed, Burnnley, Blades, and even Leeds, it was nonsense to suggest this squad is not god enough. Its points that are needed though not performances. Its only goals that count of course, everything else is academic.

Oli Cooper has been unlucky this season. Bellamy chose him to play box to box and he was fantastic, then serious injury kept him out. Given an injury free time Cooper should be one of the first names on team sheets for club and country.

Not seeing the same player, he's far too inconsistent for this level.

He's ok, if he wasn't a local lad I'm pretty sure the fanbase wouldn't be so forgiving.

Constantly learning and continuous assessment. A winning culture without complacency as it only takes a second to score a goal. After a disappointing time Cooper looks to be back on it. Such young players can be forgiven and this season's set of buys are much younger generally and need time specially those from other countries. The likely end to contracts of some senior players this summer will allow further scope for players to be acquired who can raise levels again. There is already a quality pool of players emerging through academy. All to play for.

Oli Cooper isn’t a young player who needs nurturing, he’s 25 years old and hasn’t come anywhere near realising the potential that he once showed.
