Of course it’s the players.Ah so it wasn't the players after all?

Agree with pretty much most of that.Of course it’s the players.
What has happened is O’Brien has been an absolutely enormous upgrade on Grimes (who was one of those that was always an issue with our ‘style’), and also Sheehan has done a great job of insisting on a much quicker press and getting them to put in some effort. We could have been caught out with it a few times today but thankfully were not and it was an excellent three points. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you listen to his interview today Sheehan himself has alluded to the lack of quality in the squad but has said he’s set up to get the best out of it. And I think he’s done pretty well with that. We are very short of attacking threat but at least today we had a go. We were awful last week though. Never looked like scoring.
The way we played today and in the last couple of weeks isn’t the way forward if we have any ambition to progress. I mean you recognise that surely? Once the inevitable honeymoon wears off and the players feel safer from the threat of relegation we will do ok but no more than that.
If people are happy with flirting with relegation and ending up in mid table every year then great, the squad is fine. Albeit half are leaving this summer. If you want to achieve more than that and at least challenge for the playoffs then the squad is simply not good enough. Whoever manages it.
And as I’ve said many times, the biggest issue was never LW. It was at the top. We may have changed that now, too soon to tell whether the new people will work out, but at least it’s an attempt to change things. The cancelling of this weeks forum though suggests that there are still real issues.
The turn around in fortune has been there for all to see, our press at times has been absolutely fantastic.Just back.
A massive well done to Sheezy and the Quorum - where winning is the aim.
Entertaining, effective, efficient winning footy - a blast from the past . Playing the best players in their best positions, who'd have thought it. The .com was rocking again.
What a massive contrast to the twp, self-indulgent, fraudy Martin-Willy ways.
Excellent post, and ofc it's not the richly assembled playing squad, after all.Ah so it wasn't the players after all?

He is a 10 isn't he.Hopefully it’s clicked for Eom. Cracking goal, loads of movement and some nice touches.
He’s a number 10 IMO.
Can see it clicking for big Vip soon, he’s always feeding of scraps and isolated but got a feeling he may be class.
I’d like to see Eom at 10 and Bianchini on the right.

I really liked that performance.
It was aggressive, it was played at a much higher tempo than Williams, the ball was played forwards a lot more (important!!), every player worked hard off the ball, and a winning goal that was so good it would not have been out of place in Premier League football.
The ref was odd. Not awful. Just odd. Didn't seem to know what was or wasn't a foul. But I've seen a lot worse. The Luton home game at Christmas being one.
I think we're safe now. Which is the main thing.
