Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 1 Middlesbrough FC 0 | Att: 13,986 | The EFL Championship

Ref was utterly bizarre, wasn’t he. I reckon he was deciding by using a coin toss.

I enjoyed most of that. Too sloppy in possession at times, but a much higher tempo again.

I can accept coughing up the ball every so often if the intent is to play it forwards and break lines. Got no problem with that at all.

What I can't accept is 90% pass completion rates that achieve the square root of feck all in terms of hurting the other team.

Give me a performance like today's any day. I'm not saying it was perfect but at least we resembled a proper football team, not a masturbatory passing stats circle jerk.

I really liked that performance.

It was aggressive, it was played at a much higher tempo than Williams, the ball was played forwards a lot more (important!!), every player worked hard off the ball, and a winning goal that was so good it would not have been out of place in Premier League football.

The ref was odd. Not awful. Just odd. Didn't seem to know what was or wasn't a foul. But I've seen a lot worse. The Luton home game at Christmas being one.

I think we're safe now. Which is the main thing.
First half hour, we were all saying how good the ref was (rare), then as you said, went weird. Let 2/3 def yellows go and it spiralled from there.

Yes that ref could have caused a few issues due to his inconsistent approach, i like the way Ben was having a few words with him when the opportunity arose

Concur.

Today was a massive statement AWAY from MArtin-Willy-Wang, fair play.

And it looked RIGHT - it looked like we were getting the best from our richly assembled talent - our latent gems so massively shackled by the very most self-indulgent ways of MArtin and Willy.

Right now is a proper watershed moment........

First 15 mins he just let everything go, and there were a good few obvious fouls for both teams.

Then he started whistling for anything and everything. And his booking threshold was really random.

It was just weird, rather than bad. Thankfully had no bearing on the game.

The "should Sheehan get the gig" debate will rumble on until at least the end of the season. What has to be said is that the transformation from despair to hope since Williams left is as clear as night and day. Just saying like 👍
Spot on.

I'm not a Sheehan fan and I'm still praying we don't Monk him into the job quietly this summer. But credit where it is due. We look a far more cohesive unit, and the work rate has upped considerably. He's done a very decent galvanising job.

It was nice to see the long ball or even smashing it off the park into the top tier as a release rather than constantly playing it to Grimes.

It's seems that Williams and Grimes going has been massive release to the players.

And may well re-align, re-aquaint the shattered, torn fanbase from the MArtin-Willy-Ways

I feel it in my bones ...🤞

Crossed my mind on more than one occasion, especially in the first half.

Some of our players seem to have grown up a bit now they don't have their crutch "Matty" around to just give the ball to any time they don't know what to do with it. It appears that some of them are actually finding their own solutions for a change. Not before time too.

A great win
Good to see us harassing oppostion players not allowing them time on the ball

We dominated the first half but Boro were more in the game second half.

Eom played well and I thought we looked less effective when he went off.
I thought Cooper and Bianchini were coming on for Cullen and Vip.

I'm still not convinced about Vip he gets out jumped and is not the sharpest in the box.

Sheehan has us playing as a unit but for me is not the long term solution.

Key for me gives the ball away far too often.

That said another win another clean sheet and whilst I've never worried about relegation today s win ensures that it's even more less likely
