On the whole I agree but I'm not sure you could say WBA were absolutely on top, apart from the last 10 mins of the first half. For 35 mins, it was just two crap teams giving the ball away to each other and running down blind alleys.
We appear to have started this half a little brighter so let's hope that continues....
They were crap. They were still on top. As they were in the second half as well.
We were very lucky to get a point from that. Not that I’m complaining - we’ve been unlucky on more than our fair share of occasions over the past few years.
It just all a bit depressing for me. We just don’t seem to have any real drive and urgency. Coupled with only a very few players who have any quality it’s like watching paint dry at times.
Although Allen is obviously way past his best, the cameo from him showed him finding pockets of space in a way our other midfielders can’t manage. His pace and fitness is understandably way below where it was, but he still has an instinct which others don’t have.
There was a passage in the second half where Key had the ball out wide and level with their box, and Ronald just stood behind him, moving in parallel, not creating any possibility for Key to do anything. It eventually went in to the middle, bounced back to Ronald, who promptly hit a shocking pass and we lost the ball, it summed it all up for me. There is no ability from most of our players to think.
Today we had Eom, Ronald, Peart Harris, Abdullai all have a go out wide. I remember the game against them when we had Dyer, Routledge and Pablo. It makes you want to sob.
Still, those nice cars didn’t buy themselves…
