Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 3 Leeds United 4 | The EFL Championship

I'm with Evanski. Premier League was great and so was the Cup and Europe. But the last 3 years weren't so good. And I think he means (apologies if incorrect) that, in general, Championship games are better to watch than PL games. Which I agree with but I enjoyed seasons 78/79, 85/87, 87/88, 04/05 (as some examples) far more than any of our seasons in the PL. The 2 seasons 81-83 were better because it was a more open field. Money talks now and with the obvious exception of Leicester it's practically the same shit every year. Every team bar six going for the bottom 14 places.
And also, if you play in the same division it's not a scalp. A good result, yes. A scalp is beating someone a couple of divisions above you.

You think Brighton and Bournemouth fans would rather be back in the championship. You're having a laugh. Beating Man Utd at Old Trafford and Arsenal at the Emirates, believe me those are scalps, as was Brighton turning over Manchester city recently.

The days of us beating the likes of Arsenal and United on a regular basis are some and always will be my best memories of supporting the swans.

They were absolutely amazing and unforgettable times. Everyone of the other 72 Efl clubs would love to have been in our position. Massive cities like Sheffield (2 teams) Bristol(2 teams) etc etc , wanted to be us, winning a major trophy. Just look at Brighton, not that long ago they were playing at the Withdean in front of a few thousand fans. Brentford, like us, have spent most of their history in the lower divisions.

This isn't true about us, we've spent the most time in the 2nd division.. this is our true level

Admirable in sense that we went toe to toe with them. But it was obvious from 3 minutes in that the full backs could not play that careless abandon. But Williams let it happen.

With our trophy and spell in the prem league, have we created a legacy and improved our fan base?

Exactly that. I’d add 2007-08 to that list - seeing us totally outclass the opposition on a near-weekly basis was a joy to watch.

Cmajack - yes, of course the first 4 seasons in the Prem were the high point (and a few games, like the 3-2 win at Anfield, during the decline) and I’d give anything to see us competing at the top table again. My point was simply that the Championship’s more competitive (and in that sense, exciting) and, as we saw today, there’s less of a gap between the top teams and the rest.

What I don’t get after scoring the 3rd goal our players rushed like mad to get the game going again.
Why didn’t we just take our time and see the game out.

Morning after feeling: We have to beat Derby and start getting the results. It's all good playing well and we did, it was a great game but I worry we don't back it up midweek. We have to put the same effort and application every game, it counts for nothing if we aren't beating the teams around us. While all indicators are positive, we are still only 4 points from relegation zone. Can't wait for Wednesday

Exactly, we mentioned it at the time.
Down to the captain, the more experienced players and the coaching staff. We needed to slow things down for the last few minutes, taking the sting out of the game.

Great if we'd scored the 4th though 😁

Can anyone remember the last time we won away midweek? It must've been two seasons ago at least by now?

Game was there for the taking. He who dares, Rodney.

I Looked it up.
technically Monday 10th april 2023 against wigan. However it was a weekend game really and a full set of fixtures 3pm KO's, probably easter Monday.

Before that - weds 5th October 2022 against Watford. 2-1

I remember that game, Cabango scored with pretty much the last kick (head) of the game.

Pretty unbelievable that we've gone two years since then without a win. The 'midweek away' game in this league is the absolute test of how up for it you are, and it's hardly encouraging to go this long without anything
