• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Seems we've been paying two managers?

I still don’t understand why we are owed compo mind.

It was agreed in the deal when he left. As part of the severance package we paid up his contract (or part of it) but on the condition that if he found a job within 12 months we got a part of the settlement back. I don't know how regularly it happens, but I've heard of it before.

This usually happens more so with players, but it looks like he's still under contract so either Forest buy him out of that or we keep paying him.

I think most managers waive the rest of their due wages in order to avoid the complication

It was reported that we settled his contract, but there was a clause in the settlement that said we were owed money back if he found a job within 12 months. So we weren't still paying him and would have got nothing back had he remained jobless for a year. That's what I saw in WOL anyway.

I don't get why anybody would agree/sign to that.

I did. Edit, too much waffle - there are good reasons to.

For Cooper to jump so early it would need to be a good offer I suspect, or he doubts his shelf life after failing with Palace and Fulham.

I'd guess his contract with Forest will be worth at least as much as the payoff he got from us, if not a fair bit more. So if he fails at Forest, he'll be in no worse position financially when they sack him.

Also, to be fair to the guy, it's quite possible he'd rather be managing a football club than sitting at home counting his money. Despite what we think of the quality of football, his track record has an U17 World Cup win and 2 playoff finishes in 2 seasons in club football. I'm sure he backs himself to do a good job at Forest and good luck to him in all but the games he plays against us (if he gets the job).

It's fairly standard practice when a manager gets the chop that they either get their contract paid up or end up on Gardening Leave until someone else wants them.

Indeed. I’m amazed that people don’t understand that him leaving by mutual consent would mean anything other than a compromise agreement that can take any form. Could be a lump sum, could be a continued payment. He had a contract that both parties agreed to break. Doesn’t mean he didn’t run away, coward that he is, and doesn’t mean that the club wasn’t happy for him to run away, knowing he wasn’t going to succeed and would soon be booed out anyway.

In this case the club might have gambled that, rather than pay a commuted lump sum, someone else will be stupid and desperate enough to pick up the sap while his press and Sky myth is still credible (Swansea played good football, he is a miracle worker with no money, he is good at developing a clubs youngsters…all laughable). It looks like the gamble might pay off and the payments might be mitigated by Florist. He will actually ‘save’ them from relegation too, not that they should be there. Hughton did an astonishingly bad job.

That aged well Mon.

Potter > Cooper >>>>>> Martin

All still 100% accurate, give or take.

What didn’t age well is my thinking that any change would stop hurting my eyes and making me want to throw stuff.
