Sheehan deserves the chance and the Swans could be fun again

Long time lurker from the old boards (Les Ferdinand era, IYKTYK) - registered after reading the article to say that I feel the same.

Was so good to see the .com full for a non-Cardiff game, and genuinely a positive atmosphere (in fairness even the junior jacks thing was well done).

I haven't been pro Sheehan until recent games, but he's becoming hard to turn down. Yes it depends on who else we could get (which was where my reluctance to back him long term came from) and ambition is critical...but if it's down to him or Hellberg then I'd go for Sheehan.

It's a big risk appointing someone with no experience of British football, even if he has had success in other leagues. The pace, aggression, expectations and even media pressure here is something else.

I'm not saying the Sheehan is the perfect candidate, but the recent results are more than impressive when you consider them against the rest of our season.

Welcome thank you for taking the step from lurking to posting! And I agree with this!

So there was a board meeting Wednesday presumably with a key focus on Manager issue.

Thursday, he is not at presser but in talks with the club.

He has said he does not want to survive in the division but wants to take us places. His word Alignment of what the club wants to do and what he wants.

Given we have entered a period of cost cutting last couple of months that highlights where one of the main discussion issues is going to be.

Those above will be looking to trim squad wage budget moving out expensive players like Allen, OBrien, Pederson etc, possibly sell Franco. Conversely if Sheehan wants to challenge at the top he is going to want those players as well as fixing any other squad issues Center Halves.

Going to be interesting to see how this works out. I think he has got the job but then we have to see what the club does in the summer transfer window after Sheehan has signed the contract.

Will they back him, or, will they go with Montague's remit of finding promising players at low cost wages. That's when we really find out the intentions of the board.

The two things are not mutually exclusive.

The club cannot go on losing £15m a season. Sheehan will be backed to the best of its ability, the same as everyone else was.

If he thinks we can go on a splurge, then he's not the right guy. I think he's smarter than that though.

His key skills are obviously resource and man management, so I don't think he'd want a load of expensive prima donna egos anyway. I think he'd be better building a young, promising team, with the emphasis on team.

The most important issue is how LaJolla is going to spin this to fit his narrative...
Yes, I was thinking that too. But I still firmly believe that he's no more than our very own troll. It's so fake that love-in for Fulton, and all the other strange comments 😂😂

Sounds perfectly plausible.

Moving out expensive players in the form of O'Brien and Pedersen is not an issue since LOBs loan ends and Pedersen's contract ends. Allen's contract is also up, but there is surely scope for a new deal for Allen on reduced wages with an appearance bonus considering his injury history since returning to the club.

Selling Franco should be a non starter unless crazy money comes in, crazy enough that we could use it to balance the books and rebuild the squad. He has the potential to grow even further in value and seems the kind of guy who would reward love and loyalty from the fans in kind.

Pleased to see things going in the right direction with Sheehan. He deserves this chance.

Nothing against Hellberg or other coaches we may have been looking at, but the club simply cannot risk another left-field "trust the process" appointment at this time. We're done with that, it's driven the fanbase mental. We need someone who gets results. Sheehan gets results. It's a no-brainer.
