If we wind up paying £20m then every single player would have done remarkably well and we'd be back in the Premier League. In reality the spending is half that, probably even quite a bit less.

Even if it's not that total, it would still be enough of a spend to be concerned with the situation currently.

Not according to Sheehan in his press conference. He feels its tougher. He says he doesn't go online to see fans opinions. And was shocked last week when Wales Online was caught talking about it in press room. Think he needs to get online as it seems even the fans of him including me are turning and fast.
I saw a big shift in opinion online last night towards getting him gone.

I'm starting to lean that way and I've been one of the biggest advocates on here for giving him time.
Between me and Smurph, I think it's OK for me to say we both have been in more support than many. I can't talk for you now. But it's shifted dramatically for me this week. But his stats and I'm not a stats guy is shocking across the board. Add on top of that the performance. I think it's inevitable at some point this season he goes.

I agree but there were so many people that expected him to get us promoted by December and now they realise he won’t they want a new mam to takeover and they’ll expect him to get us promoted by January
Again this was me. Stupid I know. But I keep banging on about it. The stats coming out is alarming. It's the performance drop off that is nuts as well. What was the atmosphere like last night at the game? Was there alot of chat about him going out of curiosity?

You're more than ok!

All for not making knee jerk reactions, something needs to change with his approach. I still think he can achieve good things. He just needs to find that winning formula which seemed to come easy to him last season.

Indeed and the results are poor and our last few performances have been dreadful but it is hitting some people harder because their expectations were far too high to start with.

Do you know what, I have been supportive with managers over the years. I have had people tell me that managers need to go and a more pragmatic approach would be beneficial to us and we would see the benefits. I even thought that it might be the case when Sheehan came in board that the pragmatic approach might work but since the summer Sheehan has gone all Steve Cooper and it's just not working.

It’s not working.

He can change it.
He just needs to be more positive and get his midfielders wanting to influence the game more rather than working hard and concentrating on preventing the opposition from playing.

2 holders and a no 10 with wingers encouraged to beat their full back and get in behind them aswell as encouraging the full backs to go beyond their winger.

The initial outlay won't be near that but it will eventually cost us nearly 20m with the players that have come in the summer to team up with the squad.

Idah 6m
Inoussa 5m
Stamenic 2m
Galbraith 1.5m
Wales 300k
Widell 3M

The loans and freebies would have come with an initial outlay.

Widell was signed under Luke in Jan, and even then it’s not 20m. It may never increase from the base amounts as the extras are based on success. If they do increase then it’s because they are good.

Southampton have nearly every one of their players costing about that, alone. This league is not the league it was when we went up 15 years ago. They had 15m Downes on the bench..

Our problem is this ‘Swansea Way’ stuff which is killing us. It doesn’t work anymore, football is cyclical. I think Sheehan has tried to incorporate it into his playing style. Our own mentality holds us back because we are the only club that has to adhere to a style of play that largely doesn’t work.

The football we've seen so far this season, without exception, has been extremely far removed from what I would consider to to be the 'Swansea Way'.

It's just a slight variation on the garbage served up by Williams which in itself was a slight variation of the garbage served up by Martin.

Sheehan's days are numbered. I just can't see things improving.

I would also add that presumably the plan last night was to still be in the game with 10 minutes left to play and then have a bit of a go. As soon as we started doing that, we looked much better. Although whether that was due to a change in approach or personnel (Vip on for Idah), who knows.
