Sheehan Out? Calm Down!

Being serious though a lot of people aren’t really supporters are they?
If people truly thought about it supporters are meant to support and support through thick and thin.
You know the sort, there’s a bloke elsewhere for instance that in no way ‘supports’ supports our club,he’s never had anything to say about any manager/coach we’ve had and has been the same on internet forums since they were invented but professes to be our biggest fan.
This is not aimed at anyone but I honestly believe the constant negativity from some is some kind of illness.
Great post 👌

We have some of the most deluded fans known to football. And some have a cheek to call other fans deluded.

While I massively agree with your post overall, I am not sure that being a supporter requires someone to park their critical faculties and provide unreserved adoration 100% of the time, like one of Mao’s young communists in the Cultural Revolution. But supporters should generally look for - and expect - the best from (and for) their team, not hope for failure to prove their point.

Imagine the internet with this lot when we were in the 4th division.
Most wouldn't stick around if they were , you can see how many we have lost since the Premier league days. Remember going to some away games mid 1970s , there were that few away fans there supporting the Swans that they travelled home on the team bus with the players, especially for midweek or Friday night away games.

A lot of clubs certainly have had it worse than us.
Their fans have stuck with those clubs but you can guarantee they've had a moan & a gripe along the way.
You can say if you're unhappy with something but turning up when you can is what counts.

No argument there, but one game into the season seems especially early for some to have made up their minds about our manager and current players.

For me, you’re a supporter if you say you are. How far you choose to take it obviously depends on how much you engage with the club, attend games etc.

There are definitely people that are negative about everything. The people that used to sit next to me down the stadium who never used to stop slagging off the players for example. I think that’s different to having concerns about playing style/coaches personally, those are exactly the types of conversations you’d expect fans to be having.

Yes but if you’re mouthing of on the interweb, don’t go to games, don’t buy merch or put nothing into our club you ain’t supporting fuck all.

Bollocks.

So my Dad, yeah. He's 75, and he had a stroke a few years back, he isn't fit to go down the stadium. You won't find a bigger Swans fan than him. He's over the moon every time they're on Sky or on the red button, because it means he can watch them. Normally the only way he can catch games is on radio.

Supporters come in all sorts of guises. Not just your narrow prescriptive view of what one is or should be.

Yeah but that’s not really the point I was making as regards poor old dad but I think you probably know that.
I’m sure he’s supported us a lot over the years and if it wasn’t for his dreadful illness he’d be supporting us now.
I can’t imagine he’s one of ultra negative twats spouting bollocks on the internet everyday either.

God bless dad. ❤️

I didn't "probably know" anything. From where I was standing, it looked like you were hammering anyone who can't get their arse down the stadium or the club shop. But appreciate you for clarifying.

Fwiw I agree with you about the social media clowns - but then for that reason I tend to stay away from that world. I find most fans in real life are generally sound.
