Nobody worth their salt would move to Swansea to coach us on those terms. It would also mean they are constantly on the verge of being poached if they do well.

Successful managers are on the verge of being poached regardless of the type of contract they are on, and one of our best ever managers signed on a rolling contract.

Swansea City can confirm the club has parted ways with head coach Alan Sheehan.

The 39-year-old was appointed as full-time head coach in April following two highly-impressive stints in interim charge of the Swans.

Alan initially took over in December 2023, overseeing seven games with a win percentage of 42.86 per cent.

His second spell in charge saw him record a win percentage of 58.3 per cent from 13 games, including a run of five wins in a row.

However, in the wake of a disappointing run, it is felt results and performances do not meet the standards expected at this stage of the season, and we have had to take this difficult decision.

The process to appoint a new head coach is already under way. We will update supporters on this process once it has been concluded.

Swansea City owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen said: “Alan has been instrumental in helping improve the club through two periods of time. Alan has a tireless work ethic, an honest approach and a positive attitude. He has put his full effort into the job on behalf of the club.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Alan for all of his hard work during his time at Swansea City. We wish Alan and his family all the best for the future.”

Certainly looks like he was given until the international break to turn the ship around. I'd imagine the wheels have been in motion to find a replacement since at least Saturday. But at least we have the break to establish something.

I could understand that if we were going after proven successful managers at this level, but look at our last 3 appointments. They would and should have jumped at the chance to manage us in the Championship. Even arguably Cooper.

We seem to be so unambitious when it comes to appointing managers (as I said in another thread). We're a decent Championship club with recent PL heritage, we should be aiming at experienced, successful managers at this level - even if they do end up costing us a bit more. We seem happy to invest in players, it's about time we invested in a manager, rather than arseing around replacing one every year.

We need a statement of intent, rather than trying to be clever appointing someone from League Two who's played some decent stuff for 10 games.

Obviously need to get the 'right' appointment but going into the 3 games after the window without a permanent manager would be a big error and would even make me question the sacking.

You know what we're like.

We'll come back after the International break, talks will have 'taken place' with people and fallen through, we'll put the kit man in charge for 3 games and then approach a League Two assistant manager.

With the Cabango and Tymon suspensions, I would not blame the new coach for waiting until full time versus Bristol City before signing his contract. Let a caretaker handle that one and hit the ground running the following Monday.

It's all pointing to a decision already being made. Not making if official until a couple of hours after Wales Online (meaning they'd tried to keep a lid on it, but Sheehan leaked it), no mention of a caretaker, waiting until Tueday to make the announcement rather than pull the plug over the weekend. Who ever it is, I don't think we've got too long to wait.
