If I was a Burnley fan I'd prefer they keep control of the finances under the current owners and be in a strong position to be promoted right back if they get relegated.

I agree, they've done brilliantly and that's why I think they should stick with what they have. Isn't there a dodgy guy involved in the proposed takeover? Plus how many takeovers of clubs the size of us and Burnley have actually delivered on the promised massive investment?

I would have thought our fans as much as any would realise the grass isn't always greener. Let's hope Burnley's current owners care more about the future of the club than our previous owners did.

This. It's really quite bizarre to still see people agitating for takeovers in the expectation that massive spending will ensure, especially Swans fans, who really should know better by this point.

This post is spot on, they have always been run by local business people who have cut their cloth accordingly, perhaps their current owners are feeling the same as our ex owners?

The only takeover that will ensure big spending is one where people have literally billions of assets in the background

Everyone else is in there purely for the money the Premier League can put in their individual pockets.

It's always the same. First season anyone can put a run together building on their momentum. It gets a lot harder after that. Some can manage it for a while (**cough** us **cough) but most fail.

There were people who swore blind before 2011 that we'd never make it to the top without wealthy owners. Even ten years later they still think that spending money is a guarantee of success rather than usually the harbinger of big problems further down the line.

The only time clubs should be allowed to spend more than they can generate themselves is if enough cash to cover the full contractual liabilities of each player signed over that amount is lodged with the FA/FL at the time of signing. Wouldn't really deter genuine cases looking to propel their hometown club to glory, would deter the types who load the clubs with debt and then do a runner when the shit hits the fan.

The trouble is - as we saw with that crazy deal that was banded about a few weeks back - the "big" clubs control pretty much anything that happens and too many clubs are happy for the scraps that these big clubs throw from their own top table.

When we were in the PL there was a renegotiation of the TV deal going on. The negotiation was led by the big clubs who wanted to take a bigger share of the pie on offer for themselves. Most clubs were happy to go along with this method. And then we wonder why, when you get relegated, the impact is much bigger than it should be.

We will get to the point where the "Big" clubs will set up their own structure. I suspect that they'll do it without UEFA/FIFA sanction in the end, because they'll believe (probably quite rightly given how bent both organisations are) that they're better off running things themselves. Plus, why see TV rights money go to a Governing body when they can keep it themselves.

They won't be panicking yet and neither should they. Their performances are ok but not creating enough chances. Bit like us the year we went down. But they've a better manager than we had.
