Should I care....

No.

Multi million/billionaires not getting more millions.

Just read that Mission Impossible 8 has been delayed. Its an industry with no drop of creativity left within it.

I get it that not everyone enjoys the content, I certainly don’t, but it is an industry that supports people’s livelihoods. It’s the same people that work in film work in TV broadcasting too, including sports, and it’s not just rich people.

It’s the same in every walk of life. For everyone earning big bucks there are many more in the same industry earning a relative pittance with all the day to day financial worries the rest of us have. It’s wrong to paint this dispute as gazillionaire luvvies wanting more gazillions.

Haven't got a dog in this fight, but if Kaley Cuoco goes out on strike I'm willing to put her up in my gaff for a week or two until she gets back on her feet 👍

If an actor wants a day's pay as an extra in the background, they may be asked for a full body scan and for their image to be used forever, with no further permission necessary. It's something that their union is concerned about. I'm beginning to think that America isn't a country but a corporation, and that the most important people aren't the voters but the shareholders.

Still, I'm looking forward to the next film with a younger George Clooney and Marilyn Monroe.

Too late. Engage brain before acting up all clever.

Actuallly, it's you looking an idiot here.

The comment was deinitely flippant and possibly a bit dickish but you've come out swinging after days of nibbling at him. NOT a good look.

That said,I hope that things are not going badly for you with the fallout from this strike.

Taking it a slightly different route I think the cost of going the cinema these days is bloody scandalous. Had to go watch paw patrol, dog sh**e it was, cost me about £40 for 3 of us with a thimble of popcorn and a miniature packet of minstrel’s between us.

Place honked of farts too, still that was me!

Bloody hell, what cinema are you going to? Took the lad to see the Spiderverse film in the Vue in Swansea on Friday after work. Under £10 for the two tickets, drinks and snacks for him in my rucksack because I'm not paying cinema prices for food and drink.

Aye if it’s costing £40 for three people to go to the pictures you’re doing it wrong.

Politics of envy.

And on the alleged lack of creativity, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of the Mission Impossible films, but the fact that they’re on number eight and from what I can tell it’s doing pretty well tells me that, creative or not, people enjoy them. That’s what films are about, unless you’re one of those people that tell others what they should be watching or listening to.

The lack of creativity argument is bollocks. Yes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had a massive effect on big-budget filmmaking because every studio wants to do the same thing. When there's been 32 Marvel films and they've made almost $30billion at the box office, that's understandable. Studios are apparently meddling more in big budget films than ever before if you listen to directors.

However, move away from the very big budget and there's plenty of creativity to be found, as much as always (even the big budget films are occasionally creative, see the choice of Greta Gerwig to direct the Barbie movie for example). Look at Mark Kermode's list of 10 best films from last year for example:

https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2022/dec/18/mark-kermode-10-best-films-of-2022

Hell of a cross-section of films there and that's just a fraction of what comes out.

I’ve only seen one of the 10 films on that list. Elvis. And frankly it was abysmal.

I've only seen The Banshees of Inisherin and Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio from the list myself. Both of which I thought were excellent, but I'm generally a fan of films from Del Toro and Martin McDonagh anyway.

JJ wasn't complaining about quality though, he was complaining about creativity. I figured Kermode's eclectic list would show evidence of creativity at least. ;)
